Isla Fisher: Then and Now

Amping up the glamour on the Borat red carpet with some old-school Hollywood make-up magic – red lips and black liner a’plenty – and glossy red, tousled lengths for a bit of edginess. Could this be our favourite Fisher finish so far?PA Photos
To celebrate the release of Confessions Of A Shopaholic - a movie us recessionistas can relate to in the current climate - we take a look at the changing style of girl-of-the-moment Isla Fisher, from sweetie pie Aussie soap star to fully fledged Hollywood glamourpuss.

What a cutie! Shockingly, before this snap, Isla had already written two bestselling teen books, but decided to try her hand at acting. A role in hit Aussie soap Home & Away ensued which made her face familiar with pre-teens and Just 17 readers all over the UK! The fiery red hair, the exceedingly pale complexion and the shimmery lipstick – it has to be the ‘90s.

Fast-forward two years and Isla had fled ‘Down Under’ for Blighty’s wetter and windier shores, where she appeared in panto and hooked up with Darren Day. Really? Still a cutie, but if she was looking to hit the big-screen, she needed to crank that glamour up a notch.

She’s grown her gorgeous locks and toned the colour down a smidge, resulting in this deliciously natural and oh-so flattering red for front-row action at London Fashion Week. Shame about the sweater, and shame about the fact that she was still on Darren Day’s arm…

Working the au natural look for a night out in London town, with lengthy, now honey-brown locks and minimal makeup. Pretty enough, but a bit bland for the red carpet. Amp it up, Fisher!

Wow – she’s definitely upped the ‘vamp’ stakes with this look. The make-up is good, but the dyed hair and cross combo is just a little on the wrong side of Goth. But hey, Hollywood was about to come a’calling…

Hurrah. A sunny Isla hits Californian shores for her first Tinseltown premiere (Scooby-Doo!) and her red carpet make-over kicks off with big, bouncy curls. Tongs at the ready, Hollywood, Isla has arrived…

Looking relaxed and happy at a Hollywood premiere (the love of a good man - i.e. Sacha Baron Cohen AKA Borat - is evident), a glowing Isla looks naturally pretty and we love, love, love those Rapunzel locks.

Cranking the glamourpuss notch up to full throttle for the London premiere of Wedding Crashers – the breakthrough role that showcased her comedy credentials and earned her a MTV Movie Award – the up-do is bang on-trend and the make-up flawless. Isla gets it so, so right.

Looking polished, mature and every inch the Hollywood A-lister at an LA awards ceremony, with a pretty rose-bud flush to her cheeks and über-lashes.

The Aussie goes back to her roots with relaxed, carefree, beach babe style – subtly tousled tresses topped off with plenty of bronze and shimmer.

At a black tie gala, Isla’s realised that the fast-track route to instant glamour = red lips! The side pony is bang on-trend too - no wonder she’s smiling.

Looking busty at the Oscars (well, she was secretly preggers with a mini G!), Isla opts for va-va-voom volume in her locks and shimmering golden tones on her lips and eyes.

No hiding that baby bump now – a fuller, softer Isla goes ‘romantic’ with delicate pinks and the kind of soft curls that wouldn’t look out of place on a Jane Austen heroine.

Showing off that post-baby figure, Isla looks fabulous at the New York premiere of her latest rom-com, Definitely Maybe, with lengthy mahogany waves and peachy-hued makeup which really flatter the redhead’s skin tone.

Poker-straight, ironed lengths, a smidge of icy blue shadow and nude, glossy lips – is it just us, or does Isla look like a young Julianne Moore here?

A glam up-do for the Golden Globes. We’re not too sure on the shimmery pink lipstick, but there’s no denying Isla looks every inch a member of the Hollywood elite. What a transformation from the geeky teen circa Home & Away.

At the UK premiere of her latest flick Confessions of a Shopaholic, in which Isla takes the starring role, the starlet flaunts her fashionista credentials and works that covetable mane to its full potential.
