Flawless coverage just isn't enough any more, we want a makeup base that's as caring as it is covering. And if you've already got on board with your BBs and CCs then you're going to love cushion bases.

A South Korean technology, the airy-light formulas see foundation thinned and compressed into a 'cushion' pad. They're topped with a sponge that you push down to release a dose of the liquid formula. We love Lancôme's Miracle Cushion (£29.50) for its dewy, buildable coverage.

NARS' new Luminous Weightless Foundation (£32) is also a game-changer in the makeup base market. Its lightweight formula is seriously long-wearing (ours was still going dtrong after a 16-hour day) and is available in a huge range of shades. The dewy, oil-free texture literally melts into the skin and is guaranteed to convert anyone who's ever deemed foundation too heavy or cakey.

SoKo skincare is trending

Cushion foundations aren't the only South Korean product you need to get on board with this year. East Asia is years ahead of us in terms of beauty technology, but some of its best-kept facial skincare secrets are finally coming to the UK this year. Hoorah!

Sheet masks, which come in gel or cotton formulas, can solve a multitude of skin woes, from dryness to uneven skintone. We recommend The Skin Lounge's Seoul Trio (£18) as a starter pack.

Also, watch out for Garnier's Miracle Sleeping Night Cream , inspired by the Korean Sleep Pack trend for masks and nightcream all-in-one. It comes to UK shores this Spring.

Facial tanning can be time-consuming not to mention messy, but a few genius new multi-tasking products are about to change that.

Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals, which hits beauty aisles in March 2015, is the first product to combine bronzer with a longer-lasting faux tan. Its loose mineral powder creates instant coverage, but also develops a natural-looking tan throughout the day which lasts for up to five days.

In a stroke of genius, James Read has combiend night cream and self-tanner in its Sleep Mask Tan (£25 for 50ml). Apply before bed and wake up to suppler, softer skin and a subtle sun-kissed glow. Win, win.

A necklift in a bottle

All those hours spent craning over our phone screens are apparently causing the premature aging of our jowels and neck, dubbed 'tech-neck' by dermatologists. But the good news is: the beauty industry is here to help.

YSL's new Forever Youth Y-Shape Concentrate (£65 for 30ml) works on restoring the youthful 'Y shape' of the lower face, neck and decolletage. It contains a patented complex; Glycanactif, that activites the restoritive complexes which make skin suppler and tighter.

Bronzer (for your hair)

We're not talking confetti or festival season glitter, a super wearable new trend in hair colour sees bronze hued highlights added around the face for a warming metallic sheen. HARI's salon's Hair Metallics are described as a natural-look 'anti colour' which complements and lifts your natural complexion.

Senior stylist Mel H from HARI's explains: "Like the new 'anti-cut' Metallics gives hair an undone and natural effect.

"Because Metallics can be applied as Balayage and foils it gives you the flexibility to lighten and darken, and with a few different tones and colours in the process it allows you to tone your hair down or warm complexion."
