As green dresses get the official royal nod, here is our edit of the best to buy right now
Forget royal blue, according to all the green dresses on display over the Platinum Jubilee weekend - plus those that the Duchess of Cambridge has remained loyal to over the years - we're calling it: royal green is the shade of summer.
Just last month, presenting The Queen Elizabeth II Award for Design to fashion designer Saul Nash, Kate Middleton wore the chicest green dress we ever did see.
The Duchess has form - impeccable doesn’t even begin to describe her style choices. Whether you’re a fan of the royals or steadfastly anti-monarchy, you’ve got to admit that Kate brings polish to any outfit.
Taking the stage in front of the some of the British fashion industry’s biggest names, Kate also met some of the edgiest, boldest new talent.

Gathered at The Design Museum to showcase their skills, designers including Priya Ahluwalia and Bethany Williams accepted awards and support from The British Fashion Council’s Fashion Trust and the NewGen programme of mentorship and guidance.

The green dress Kate chose was by Edeline Lee, a Glamour favourite and London Fashion Week regular. Last year Lee used all the existing fabrics in her studio to create a truly sustainable collection and her fluid silhouettes and clever cuts look amazing on every woman’s body.
Kate has also worn delicious shades of green on several occasions from Sandro, Alexander McQueen, Jenny Packham, Self-Portrait and The Vampire’s Wife. While granny smith green might have our favourite influencer’s hearts for summer 2022, bottle green is the shade we’re inspired to wear all year - and beyond.
Talking of ‘granny’ - or, rather, granny-in-law - the Queen joined Kate's mission to champion all things green this weekend as she made a surprise appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony to finish her weekend of Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Wearing a bright green wool dress and coat by Stewart Parvin with a matching hat, she was joined by Kate's sister wearing a very similar shade - confirming that green is officially *the* colour of summer.
We rounded up some of the best green dresses you can buy right now, many of which all have an elegant formal feel (making them perfect wedding guest dresses too.)
