What to wear in 2015
Your bank balance looks apocalyptic and you're still feeling bloated from Christmas, but there is one positive on the horizon - the new fashion season.
Yes spring/summer 2015 is nearly upon us, but it needn't mean an entire new wardrobe, in fact far from. The fashion industry are currently feeling very nostalgic, which is good news indeed for those you want to update their style without causing financial ruin.
Without further ado allow us to present the trends that will be most ubiquitous this coming season and the one item you need to buy into each:
IndigitalSeventies revival
It was the decade that reigned supreme for spring/summer 2015 – think Francoise Hardy, Jane Birkin and the glitteringly glamorous Marc Bolan. Flares are back (we wouldn’t say goodbye to your skinnies though just yet), as are fringing and furnishing prints.
The item: A pair of high-waisted flares

Rejoice! For Christopher Kane has created a pair of leather tracksuit bottoms, giving everyone an excuse to wear trackies to work. Not everyone has a Kane-style budget, but there are lots of other leather options to be worn during the summer months that aren’t intended to make you sweat – starring skater skirts, shorts or cut-away dresses.

Popular among front rows and catwalks, the humble is still fashion king. Trainers appeared at Burberry and Temperley, while fashion editors wore a mix of loafers, Nike Airs and Stan Smiths. Also look out for the heeled clog, they'll be back too.

We promise the new season gingham will not make you look like an oversized toddler. It’s an altogether more grown-up affair, and they’re not all retro-inspired either. Balmain’s were monochrome and modern, while Oscar de la Renta’s were feminine and traditional. How you tap into this trend depends on your sensibility; Tomboys should go for a pair of statement trousers, while those of a more ladylike predisposition should choose a full skirt.

Somewhere in your wardrobe you must have a denim jacket hiding – Burberry’s Christopher Bailey suggested that our favourite early Noughties staple is back, although denim of every variety is going to be big for the new season, from shirts to jeans to jumpsuits all in indigo. Those not keen in repurposing their old jacket should opt for a denim shirt dress.

IndigitalMad stripes
Nautical has taken a different direction this season. Cast aside any sailor or preppy references and think to a wilder, more colourful stripe. It's still crisp and clean, but brighter and in different textures. Louis Vuitton did theirs in orange and black leather.
