Everyone's wearing... statement coats
With winter in full-swing and the temptation to wear black polonecks and jeans everyday stronger than ever, everyone seems to be combatting the bleakness by opting for ostentatious outerwear. And in a good way.
Think garish prints, Big Bird furs and clashing colours. Be that Rihanna in pink and white houndstooth, Diane Kruger in unapologetic leopard print or Kate Moss in gorilla-esque faux-fur.
The joy of this kind of coat is that it can be thrown over the simplest of outfits, be that ripped jeans or slouchy jumpers, to create an instantly 'done' look... and we prefer it that way. The statement coat has the same function as a beautiful dress: if it's good enough, it doesn't need any accompaniment. So in short, keep elsewhere simple.
