Rex FeaturesSpring has finally sprung, but we all know better than to put our umbrellas into storage just yet. Don’t let a few little April showers ruin your gorgeous new ‘do though – follow GLAMOUR.com’s guide to shower-proof style, and stay stress-free, whatever the weather.

STEP ONE: PREPARE
Prepare your hair before you style it – the fewer fly-aways you start off with, the less chance they have of getting caught out in the rain.
Wash your hair with a rich shampoo and conditioner combo like Bumble & Bumble’s Crème de Coco. Not only will the coconut oil leave hair moisturised and shiny, it smells completely delicious. (From £15, <a href=http://www.hqhair.com target=_new>www.hqhair.com</a>)
Before drying your hair, slick some Sebastian Potion 9 through your locks, its nine essential ingredients will repair your damaged stressed hair. (£19.95 <a href=http://www.sebastianprofessional.com target=_new>www.sebastianprofessional.com</a>)
Rex FeaturesSTEP TWO: STYLE
If your hair is going to be weather-proof, it’ll need to be lovingly styled. Whether it’s straight, straight, straight or care-free curls you’re going for, there are thousands of products out there to make that ‘do just a little bit better prepared for the elements...
STRAIGHT LOCKS:
If its frizz-free straight shiny locks you’re dreaming of, then look no further than the well-loved Frizz-Ease range from John Frieda for a spot of weather-proofing. Spritz with the Heat Protecting Straightening Spray (£4.69) before styling, and if your hair is truly tricky, a once over of the Original Hair Serum (£3.89) is your ticket to silky-straight hair (<a href=http://www.boots.com target=_new>www.boots.com</a>).

CURLS:
If curls are all you covet then a spot of rain should be water off a duck’s (/girl’s) back to you, since a little drizzle can see even the tamest locks transformed to a tangle of curly tresses. But if you are going for a more controlled style then apply a little Toni & Guy Twist It Curl Balm (£5.86 <a href=http://www.boots.com target=_new>www.boots.com</a>) as you style, for fuss-free polished curls.
For extra hold and shine, try S Factor’s One Curl at a Time (£13.30 <a href=http://www.hqhair.com target=_new>www.hqhair.com</a>), to define, de-tangle, and de-frizz.
UP-DOS:
Up-dos tend to be a little more rain-friendly than your average hair style, so if it looks like rain (tut tut) then one of this season’s casual but oh-so-chic up-dos could be the answer to your prayers. No serious extra styling needed here – simply rub in a little Charles Worthington Time Defy Style Memorising Mousse (£5.37 <a href=http://www.boots.com target=_new>www.boots.com</a>) into towel-dried hair before styling, for a style that will hold, but won’t have that horrid crispy look that some mousses so cruelly inflict on the wearer.

FINISH:
Whatever style you’ve gone for, a couple of easy finishing tricks could be a hair-saviour come that April shower.
If your hair is longer than shoulder length, rub a little Kiehl’s Silk Groom Serum (£14.68 <a href=http://www.spacenk.co.uk target=_new>www.spacenk.co.uk</a>) through the ends of your hair – this is the part that tends to go a little loopy at the sight of rain.
Finish off with a light spritz of Bumble and bumble Holding Spray (£13.50 <a href=http://www.hqhair.com target=_new>www.hqhair.com</a>). It’s strong enough to hold any style in place, while letting it move, and subtle enough that it won’t turn to liquid superglue at the first hint of rain.
PLAITS:
If your preparation is in vein...
Sometimes it doesn’t seem to matter what you do, your hair might get a soaking. Carry some bobby pins and a few hair elastics in your handbag, and if you do get caught out in a shower, whip your hair into a quick French braid (yes – this might take a bit of practice) and secure with a few grips. It will keep your locks tidy for the day, and if you’re heading somewhere glam, the natural waves your hair will have dried in will be the height of laid-back-chic style.
Rub in a little of Kiehl’s Crème with Silk Groom before you plait, for a silky-smooth finish and waves with shine-appeal (£16.65 <a href=http://www.spacenk.co.uk target=_new> www.spacenk.co.uk</a>)

BROLLY DOLLY:
Get yourself a hand-bag sized brolly and be prepared for a little rain... it can’t hurt, right?
This adorable floral print umbrella (£14 <a href=https://cna.st/affiliate-link/EKxjmNPJfxzR7jo19ujFPnjhfpuF33M2jetwDErvQvG3L1YKHwzLpJnLCEBwsKndAPkBbhtfenvZcRP8gVXwwK6wsSM7e1NKY8hfm6ymk92TRxN4AEYS7bP93BL1D9qGoFoFj9XB2e72Cs?cid=6138b367a35312eec27847f8 target=_new>www.warehouse.co.uk</a>){: rel="sponsored" isAffiliateLink="true"} will keep you and everyone you see full of the joys of spring (never mind the rain...).
