Disney+ launched in the UK on Tuesday 24th March.
How much does Disney+ cost in the UK?
Disney+ costs £59.99 per year - or £5.99 a month. This standard price of £5.99 per month makes it as cheap as other television subscription services (Netflix’s cheapest plan starts at £5.99 per month while Amazon Prime is £7.99 per month).
How many people can watch Disney+ at the same time? How many screens can I have on Disney+?
Four people can watch Disney+ from one account at once, and you can register up to ten devices on one account. Oh, and you can create up to seven profiles under one account, too. Perfect if you have lots of eager friends.
Is Disney+ worth it?
We think so. If the below list of fabulous Disney+ UK shows isn’t enough to convince you, you might also like to know that it offers perks which other TV subscription services don’t have. The most appealing? Some content (although it isn’t yet confirmed which content) will be available in 4K. None of Netflix’s content is available in 4K or HD.
Can I cancel my Disney+ subscription at any time?
Yes, you can! Like most other streaming services, you can cancel your Disney+ subscription at any time if you pay monthly. After cancelling, you won’t have to pay another penny, but your subscription will continue until your next payment date.
How to watch Disney+: How to connect Disney+ to a smart TV
Disney+ is supported on iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, other smart TVs from LG, Samsung and Sony, Android phones, tablets and Android TV, desktop browsers, PS4 , Xbox One and Amazon Fire tablets.
You can download content to watch later, and if you do so, it’ll last for 30 days.
How can I get Disney+ on Sky?
Those with a premium Sky Q membership are able to subscribe through Sky. This is a similar agreement to the one which Sky previously made with Netflix, allowing its programmes to be folded into its electronic programming guide.
All you need to do to get Disney+ UK on Sky is wait for the software update. The app will be downloaded onto your Sky Q box from Tuesday 24th March. Disney+ will cost the same with Sky as it does without, so £5.99 a month. Disney+ will be integrated into Sky Q, so you can just search content alongside your Sky choices. It’s super easy.
Oh, and if you’ve already purchased a Disney+ subscription prior to the release date, you should be able to log in on the Sky Q box. It just might show up slightly differently.
It’s also worth noting, you will be able to purchase a Disney+ subscription through Now TV later in the year.
How to watch Disney+ on Samsung TV
To get Disney+ on your Samsung TV, just navigate to and select Apps on the Home screen. Then, select the Search icon in the top right corner and type in Disney+.
Disney+ on Amazon Firestick
There’s a Disney+ app for all Amazon devices, including the Amazon Firestick.
Disney+ on Apple TV
Most Apple devices, including Apple TV, will support Disney+.
Disney+ on Virgin Media
Neither Virgin Media nor Disney has announced plans to add Disney+ to the cable service at present.
What is Disney Plus Premier Access?
Disney Plus Premier Access is basically a video-on-demand service which Disney Plus subscribers can purchase as a premium add-on to their basic subscription. It was introduced in time for the release of the live-action remake of Mulan, since it couldn't premier in cinemas.
If you want Premier Access to Mulan, it’ll cost you £19.99 (or $29.99 in the US). This is in addition to your standard Disney Plus subscription. The price tag might sound steep, but if you think about the cost of a group of cinema tickets (but all the popcorn/pick-n-mix/Oasis you’d intake while there), it’s actually pretty good value. Plus, the film will remain unlocked as long as you have an active Disney Plus subscription, so you can watch it as many times as you want, at whatever time you wish.
How to get Disney Plus Premier Access
First, you need a Disney Plus account. You can sign up now to Disney’s streaming service for £5.99 per month, and have access to all the best films and TV shows on the service - as well as being able to cancel any time.
Once you have a Disney Plus subscription, you’ll be able to purchase Premier Access. This can be done through the Disney Plus website or app.
Error Code 83 Disney+
There are a few different reasons why you might be seeing error 83. The most common reason is a server timeout. If this happens, try again (server issues tend to be intermittent), try on your TV instead of your iPhone or contact Disney+ Support incase your IP address is blocked.
What to watch on Disney+: What films and shows will be on Disney+ in 2020?
More than 1,000 Disney films and shows will be available on Disney+. You’ll be able to binge on popular remakes like The Lion King, Aladdin and Dumbo, as well as original versions, High School Musical, the whole of Star Wars, plenty of National Geographic documentaries and more. We’re here for it.
A movie version of award-winning musical, Hamilton, dropped on July 3rd. Plus, Frozen 2 was released a full three months early to bring “families with some fun and joy during this challenging time”.
"Frozen 2 has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time, and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device," Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared in a statement.
If that wasn’t enough, the Lizzie McGuire reboot will also drop on Disney+ in 2020, which is reason in itself to sign up now. The all new Lizzie McGuire will follow her life as she turns 30 in New York. She's living in Brooklyn (goals), working as an apprentice to an interior designer and has a boyfriend who's a Soho restaurateur (goals again).
DISNEY1. The Parent Trap
Staring Lindsay Lohan and Natasha Richardson, this 1998 remake of the 1961 original follows two identical twins who are separated at birth. Hallie and Annie meet at a summer camp by chance and make it their mission to help their parents rekindle their long-lost romance. This is such a feel-good film.
DISNEY2. The Lion King
A good enough reason on its own to sign up to Disney+, the 2019 The Lion King remake is an inspiring and magical animated musical, staring the voices of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen.
DISNEY3. Herbie: Fully Loaded
What a throwback. Herbie: Fully Loaded, released in 2005 (nope, we can't believe it was that long ago either) was directed by Angela Robinson and written by Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. It stars Lindsay Lohan who plays Maggie - an aspiring racing driver who bonds with her car and becomes a force to be reckoned with on the track.
DISNEY5. Mary Poppins Returns
Unleash your inner child this weekend and nestle down to watch the totally heartwarming Mary Poppins Returns. Staring Emily Blunt and directed by Rob Marshall, it follows Michael Banks (who is now an adult father of three) who learns that his house will be repossessed in five days unless he can pay back a loan.
7. Cruella
Emma Stone is taking on the role of Cruella De Vil in a live-action prequel of the classic 1996 movie starring Glenn Close. In the first images released from the film, Emma can be seen in full costume and we are kind of terrified. This villain just got a seriously cool makeover.
8. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
The popular film trilogy is being brought to life in a docu-style series following a group of East Side students who re-enact High School Musical for their winter production. Featuring original songs from the 2006 film, as well as new original numbers, get ready to sing your heart out...and have all the nostalgic feels.
9. Ms Marvel
It looks like Marvel got the memo with several new series, including She Hulk, lead by female supers. Taking that a positive step further, Ms Marvel - a Pakistani-American teen called Kamala Khan (shhh!) - is the company’s first live-action Muslim hero but with the show not out til late 2021 at the earliest details are sketchy. In the comics, Ms M is a protege of Captain Marvel, with appearance-altering powers and - naturally - her own logoed super clothes.
10. The Princess Diaries 3
Prepare to welcome the great Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renald back into your lives as everyone’s favourite teen rom-com makes a much welcomed return. While we wait for Disney to release further details of The Princess Diaries 3, we’re praying Julie Andrews will be making a return appearance.
11. The Mandalorian
The first live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian follows a lone fighter through lawless lands with the lead character armoured up in the mould of fellow planet Mandalore native Boba Fett. The eight-episode series, cast with original characters, sits between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens for those who can keep up with the Star Wars timeline.
12. Lady and The Tramp
Justin Theroux, Tessa Thompson and Janelle Monae star in Disney's remake of Lady and the Tramp, which will feature real dogs. What could be better?
13. The Little Mermaid
Prepare to go under the sea once again for Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. The re-imagining of the original 1989 animation about a 16-year-old mermaid who makes a dangerous deal to become a human was confirmed to hit the big screen in July. At the time of her casting, the 19-year-old R&B singer and one half of musical duo Chloe X Halle posted an animation of herself as Ariel to Instagram with the caption: 'dream come true...#thelittlemermaid". Yes, gurl!
14. Lizzie Mcguire
The announcement that Lizzie Mcguire was being rebooted into a TV series with Hilary Duff reprising her role of aspiring singer Lizzie is arguably the best news we’ve had this year. Over ten years later, the new series will centre on her life as she turns 30 in New York City. She's living in Brooklyn, working as an apprentice to an interior designer and has a boyfriend who's a SoHo restauranteur—basically living her millennial dream life. And now we can live ours... on the sofa.
DISNEY15. Frozen 2
Frozen 2 landed on Disney+ in the UK on 3rd July. The film sees the return of the adventures of Anna and Elsa, as well as Kristoph, Sven and Olaf. Elsa is the queen of Arendelle this time around, the kingdom the sisters rule over, but things start to seem strange when Elsa begins hearing calling voices from the north...
