Jennifer Lopez impressed us all last year when she completed a gruelling triathlon just seven months after giving birth to twins. The actress is a proponent of eating everything in moderation. “I don't have anything banned from my diet and I’m not one of the health freaks who believe in not eating any sugar or leaving dairy products out,” she said.

After two pregnancies, one of them with twins, Angelina Jolie is no stranger to working on her figure. The actress, who learnt the basics of staying in shape while training for the role Lara Croft, eats steamed sea bass and tries to do kickboxing and yoga - no easy task when you have six children.

During her first pregnancy Gwyneth Paltrow became a firm believer in macrobiotic diets, which basically ban just about everything fun. More recently the actress has relaxed (a little) and sticks to organic food, yoga and alternative health therapies. “I try not to eat any over-manufactured foods that aren't naturally welcome in my body. I try not to eat anything 'toxic' that will drain my energy,” the star said. No Turkey Twizzlers in the Paltrow household then.

Lily Allen uses hypnotism to train her brain to crave healthy food and actually enjoy trips to the gym. “After the hypnotism, I want to go to the gym every day, otherwise I feel really bad. I just want to get more toned and healthy.” Sounds too good to be true!

Jessica Alba has a history of obesity in her family so the actress has always been wary of her diet. To keep her figure looking svelte, the actress sticks to strict regime of lean meats, egg whites, cottage cheese and frozen yoghurt – the latter to satisfy her sweet tooth.

With a successful lingerie business, a modelling career and two children, Elle Macpherson needs a fitness regime for the time-poor. The model is a big fan of Power Plates, the exercise machines that vibrate the body’s muscles in an intensive 15-minute workout.

As a former aerobics instructor, Eva Longoria knows exactly how to stay in shape. The actress works out with her personal trainer Patrick Murphy three times a week, warming up on the treadmill for 10 minutes before doing body exercises like torso twists and squats.

Today yoga is one of Britain’s most popular workouts but model Christy Turlington embraced the discipline back in 1987 when it was still relatively unknown. The mental and physical exercises strengthen core muscles and improve body tone. “Yoga really purifies your organs and blood,” Christy said.

Kelly Clarkson does not believe in changing her diet to lose weight. Instead the singer focuses on reducing the size of her portions and sticking to a carefully planned fitness regime.

And finally, Cameron Diaz has one of the most enviable figures in the world. "I wear high heels - that's my only fitness training and it gives nice legs. Sometimes I want to start playing tennis or going swimming but I'm too lazy for that. I like my bed." Bad luck for the rest of us who have to head to the gym!
