Weird trend alert: Everyone is wearing ridiculously long belts
Fashion has had a long enduring love-hate relationship with the humble belt. The accessory has come and gone with each season and the styles have varied: from the studded, low-slung boho belt à la Sienna Miller in the noughties, to the slim Western-buckle styles of last year. But what is the belt du jour for 2017? Well, think super long and super impractical...
Championed by the likes of Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Kylie Jenner, the super long belt is coming in strong for fashion's favourite accessory of the year. The belt style - mainly worn tied around a coat or jacket to cinch in the waist - comes with an exaggerated length which is best worn flapping loose around the knees. Yep, we're talking KNEE length, in some cases.
It's completely impractical, but we're kind of loving it. Here's how the stars are wearing the super long belt:
