Are you in touch with any of the ex-Islanders?

I stay in touch with some of them, it's always a social media DM like "How are you? Fine". I speak to Camilla because she now weirdly works for my best friend doing charity work. That's a really weird but good connection. There was lots of Camilla to talk about. She came in as someone who wasn't your traditional reality TV star and then actually was more relatable than you thought she was going to be and ended going up on a real journey. You never thought she'd go in as a bomb disposal expert and come out with a Calvin Klein model.

Which Islanders do you think will do well this year?

I am obsessed with the fact that we have a Dr [Alex] in there. I am obsessed. Jack seems interesting, he seems really funny and I think he's going to do well. He's the funny guy. He seems quite protective, he'll be protective of the girls. I think Hayley's dimples are just to die for. I have never seen anything like it, she is stunning.

What's your best advice for anyone looking to land a spot on the show next year?

First of all, know that you want to do it because it does change your life. You're out there and people know who you are and you can't change that so, firstly, know that this is the right thing you want to do. Don't try and be like any of the other islanders, don't think "I will try and be like Olivia", they're done, well, not done, obviously, we have finished with them on this show so it's time to bring in new characters so there's no point being like the others. If you're coming in for fame, not love, that will be visible to the viewers and you'll get voted out. If you're not here for love, they'll find out. But when you do go into the show now, fame does come with it so there's got to be at least 5 per cent of you that likes being famous or wants to be famous. You can't go in saying you don't want to be famous because you are going to be famous.

Which contestant's success story are you obsessed with?

Camilla is the success story that I am most proud of and I would like to put this straight because there was a story saying I slammed the contestants for doing teeth whitening. I love all of the contestants. I just meant Camilla has come out and used her platform for doing something really brilliant and it's really nice to see but that wasn't putting anyone down. In terms of love, Alex and Olivia's relationship has been tested and it's lasted this long and there's going to be a marriage. I don't know if I've got an invite but she asked me to buy a dress!

Do you feel gutted when you see Love Island relationships break down?

When your mates break up with their boyfriends, it's hard to see but not all relationships last forever. Let's be realistic. We've all had relationships; I've had them in my past and I don't look back on them and think "ah that was a mistake", I take what I learnt and move onto the next one. So, it's sad but they're not all going to last.

What does the show teach us about love in 2018?

That it's simple but complicated. This is such a modern dating show and it's a phenomenon in its own right that's it's got bigger and bigger but actually, with all the things that go on like Tinder, Love Island actually goes back to the traditional side of dating. They haven't got phones, they can't poke each other on Facebook, they have to sit down and have the art of conversation, which people don't do now. It's an old-fashioned style of dating that we're bringing back. How do we know people wouldn't have had sex on TV in the past? We didn't give them the chance! We're not showing full-on sex, we are showing movement. Sex happens in relationships, everyone has sex. You don't have to watch it but I do.

Is being on Love Island your career highlight?

I've been in this show from the start, whereas all the other shows I did, I stepped into someone else's shoes so it's nice to have a tiny bit of ownership over this.

Do you feel differently now you've found love yourself?

You'd maybe think I'd think I am an expert now but I'm not! I am just a normal girl in a relationship just like everyone else. No relationship is easier just because you're in the public eye. It's all the same feelings, I am definitely not an expert but what I like to think is that because I have had a varied life of relationships, I can be a good listener to the guys and girls and just listen and ask good questions.

What's your post-show ritual?

It's usually about 3am when I come out, we have to wait for certain times as we have to wait for the public votes to be counted. They're really tired while I am doing my walk in. Myself and the producers just have a bottle of red wine in the dressing room after the show to wind down.

How do you prepare for summer?

I go to the gym three times a week and maybe do a bit of hot yoga, but not in the summer because it's too hot! I love Pilates and then just get a good tan and exfoliate, that's it!
