Hollywood may be known for its glamour, but the Cannes red carpet takes it to another level. The Cannes beauty looks gave us rich girl glam before TikTok ever got wind of “expensive hair” and “old money” makeup.
Set on the French Riviera, the Cannes Film Festival is one of the bougiest events in filmmaking. It celebrates the best of acting, directing and producing, and offers a launchpad for arthouse films to be previewed, rubber-stamped and launched towards super-stardom. Plus the event's top prize, the Palme D'Or, is one of the most sought after awards in the industry.
Lasting two weeks each May, the occasion is also known for its luxurious setting on the Cote D'Azur – home to millionaire motor yachts, palatial hotels and exquisite food. And, while the glamour often pays homage to the classic looks made famous by legacy actresses, like Audrey Hepburn, who came before, it's also an opportunity for some very chic experimental moments and for coining upcoming trends.
This year, we saw coquette accessories, latte tones, wet-look waves, jelly lipgloss and even indigo-coloured hair grace the red carpet.
