12 faces to get excited about seeing at Cannes 2013

Cannes invite lost in the post again? Sacrebleu! Fear not, we'll be keeping you updated on all things film, fashion and fabulous from the most glamorous film festival of the year.
To whet your appetite, sit back and enjoy our round-up of the top 12 faces to get excited about (potentially) seeing in Cannes. Oh, and it includes Ryan Gosling. De rien.
PA PhotosWho: Carey Mulligan
Why: With two films at this year’s festival, (Inside Llewyn Davis and The Great Gatsby,) Mulligan will be the toast of the Côte d'Azur.
We’re excited because: One of our favourite British actress’ in Hollywood, Mulligan’s projects have yet to disappoint. And, like the rest of the world, we’ve been excited about The Great Gatsby forever.
Rex FeaturesWho: Ryan Gosling
Why: Only God Forgives, the second film from Drive partnership Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn has been shortlisted for the coveted Palme d’Or this year. Gosling stars as a criminal in the Bangkok underworld. The duo’s previous film Drive missed out in 2011 to The Tree Of Life.
We’re excited because: Duh.
Who: Justin Timberlake
Why: Timberlake is co-starring alongside Carey Mulligan in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis.
We’re excited because: We still get a kick out of seeing JT in his Suit & Tie on the red carpet promoting a movie and then mentally comparing him to the bleached-afro boy-bander that we first fell in love with.
Getty ImagesWho: Marion Cotillard
Why: Cottilard’s in town for two films, one in competition (The Immigrant, co-starring Jeremy Renna and Joaquin Phoenix) and one out (Blood Ties, by her actor/director partner Guillaume, also starring Mila Kunis and Zoe Saldana).
We’re excited because: It’s always a pleasure to see the Oscar-winner amping up the glamour in Cannes.
Getty ImagesWho: Leonardo DiCaprio
Why: Leo’s in Cannes for the opening night film The Great Gatsby, which, as previously mentioned, we’re really really excited about.
We’re excited because: We’ve been through this…
Getty ImagesWho: Beyoncé
Why: Jay-Z provides the score for The Great Gatsby, while his wife Beyoncé is featured on the soundtrack, so music’s most powerful couple are expected to make a cameo at the opening night premiere.
We’re excited because: Take the already super-glamorous Cannes, and throw in Beyoncé. Head. Exploding.
PA PhotosWho: Berenice Bejo
Why: She’s the star of Oscar-winner Asghar Farhadi’s The Past, which is up for the Palme d’Or.
We’re excited because: We’ve been obsessed with Bérénice since falling in love with her in The Artist.
Rex FeaturesWho: Emma Watson
Why: While it isn’t in the running for the Palme d’Or, there will be a screening of Watson’s new movie The Bling Ring, Sofia Coppola’s latest venture.
We’re excited because: Since leaving her Hermione days behind her, Emma’s gone from strength to strength.
Rex FeaturesWho: James Franco
Why: Franco’s latest directorial effort As I Lay Dying will screen at this year’s festival.
We’re excited because: Aside from being huge fans of James’ work, we just love the way he leans back slightly in his red carpet photographs, and genuinely believe that the Franco leaning-tilt (or lilt, if you will,) would brighten up this year’s festivities.
Rex FeaturesWho: Orlando Bloom
Why: Closing this year’s festival is Zulu, in which Bloom stars alongside Forest Whitaker.
We’re excited because: Orlando’s been keeping pretty quiet recently and we think this South African cop thriller might mark his return to form. (Plus we wouldn’t be completely opposed to seeing Mrs Bloom on the red carpet…)
PA PhotosWho: Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi
Why: Valeria, (sister of Carla,) is the only woman in the running for this year’s Palme d’Or, for her film Un Chateau en Italie.
We’re excited because: She’s doing it for the girls. (Sisters are doin’ it for themselves etc etc).
PA PhotosWho: Audrey Tautou
Why: Tautou has been named as the host of this year’s opening and closing festival bashes.
We’re excited because: She’s beautiful. She’s talented. She has excellent language skills… She’s basically the perfect candidate for the role.
