Anxious to buy clothes right now? Here are the 10 most popular lockdown fashion rental items
If you've spent the last couple of months in a similar sartorial state to us, you've likely spent a lot of time lounging about in your favourite tracksuit. And while there's nothing wrong with a little loungewear, we'd be lying if we said we weren't daydreaming of wearing something a slightly fancier. A bra, for example.
Kidding.
But really, have you found yourself longing for an excuse to put on a great dress, or somewhere to carry your favourite bag? Have you been even a tiny bit tempted to do so purely to take an Instagram picture? No? We're not sure we believe you.
But while we may all be lusting after zhuzh-ier outfits, there's something stopping many of us from shopping said outfits when they feel a tad redundant right now.
But what if we told you you didn't need to buy a new outfit to wear one?
Thanks to the ever-growing desire for sustainable options, the fashion rental market has boomed over the last year or so, with several brilliant brands offering utterly fabulous pieces - often high-end designer ones that you'd only ever dream of wearing - at a tiny fraction of the retail price, providing you return it once it's been worn. Particularly ideal for those who struggle to wear a statement piece more than once.
We caught up with By Rotation, the UK's first peer-to-peer fashion rental app, to find out what people have been renting so far in lockdown. And there's not a tracksuit in sight...
The most popular items overall are dresses followed by designer bags, proving that several of you have already seriously upped your lockdown look.
Earth Day is the perfect opportunity to look into the hot new way to shop…

Hosting items owned - and rented out - by some of the country's chicest celebrities and influencers, we decided to find out which VIP pieces in particular were being snapped up.
"Our high-profile lenders love seeing the diverse range of women who are interested in their style which is otherwise blurred on other social media," explains By Rotation founder Eshita Kabra-Davies. "It's amazing to see these influencers and celebrities sharing their wardrobes for all to enjoy. Everyone wants to feel closer to their idols, and we love that we can allow for this in a way that means people can consume fashion more consciously."
Unsurprisingly, Stacey Dooley's offering - for which she is donating 100% of proceeds to Refuge charity - is one of the most sought-after.
"Over the past few days I've had the time to go through my cupboard and sort my wardrobe out. I've decided to hand over a lot of items to By Rotation and so you can rent them out through the app. You can wear my bags, clothes, sunglasses and more, and all the money will go directly to Refuge charity. I've always believed in what they do and now more than ever it's important to make sure that they are remembered and looked after."
Scroll down to take a look at the top 10 most-rented VIP pieces, and head to By Rotation to download the app and get renting...
