It's all about the trophy statement skirt this Christmas - the dress' slightly breezier little sister.
The basis of our love of skirts is because it's easier to wear day-to-night; just throw a cashmere jumper or Aran knit polo neck over the top of your silk vest. Sequins and beading look surprisingly good when worn with excellent knitwear (think J Crew's Jenna Lyons or Alexa Chung) and also with vintage T-shirts for a tougher edge.
