21 game-changing polo necks (trust us)
Roll necks, polo necks, turtle necks, funnel necks - whatever you want to call them, knits with high necks are huge for this season.
Cast aside any aspersions you might have about them being dowdy now and be grateful that a fashion trend has come along that is both gloriously practical, affordable and chic. They're also a way of giving your summer wardrobe extra longevity.
Your references? There is plenty of catwalk inspiration, from Gucci and JW Anderson to Dior and Valentino, but also a band of high-profile women who have already opted the trend, including Taylor Swift, Alexa Chung, Rihanna and Victoria Beckham. Then of course there are the orginal polo neck patrons - Jackie Onassis, Audrey Hepburn, Francoise Hardy and Diane Keaton. Their appeal, as you can see, is far-ranging.
How to wear them? Tuck fine knit versions into the A-lini mini skirt you probably bought last season; layer underneath shirt or tunic dresses; or wear the snug cable knit styles with leather trousers, skater skirts or cropped flares.
