Hôtel Madame Rêve
Best for: Roof top terrace.
Why we love it: If rooftop terraces and warm interiors are your thing, book a stay at this hotel and soak up its modern but quirky touches. There is also a pretty fabulous brasserie downstairs which serves an excellent brekkie (perfect for soaking up those rooftop drinks). It’s got an unbeatable location, too – practically on top of the Louvre, too.

Hôtel Dame des Arts
Best for: Cosy romance with incredible views across Paris.
Why we love it: The perfect bolthole for any romantic getaway in Paris, Hôtel Dame des Arts is a brand new opening located in the city's beautiful Latin Quarter, bustling with bars and cabarets nearby and right next to the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Featuring impeccable décor (it was, after all, designed by Raphael Novat who just launched a furniture line for Loro Piana, LVMH, of which pieces are in the rooms here), the staff at Dame des Arts are as welcoming as you could wish for. The dining experience offers up fresh contemporary spin on French cuisine, but the jewel in this hotel's crown is undoubtedly the rooftop bar. Boasting unrivalled 360-degree views of the City of Lights and delicious culinary experiences, this is a date night spot that's hard to beat.

Le Bristol
Best for: Haute couture shopping.
Why we love it: With its classic red awnings and beautiful Haussmann façade, high-end hotel Le Bristol is undoubtedly one of Paris’ most glamorous hotels. Located in Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, home of haute couture and the city’s trendiest shopping street, Le Bristol absolutely exudes Parisian elegance and will make you feel très chic during your stay too. Part of the prestigious Oetker Collection, Le Bristol Paris is the first hotel in France to be awarded ‘Palace Status’. The gorgeous rooms and suites at Le Bristol offer some mesmerising views of some of Paris’ most well-known landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower.

La Fantaisie
Best for: Whimsical interiors from one of the world’s top interior designers.
Why we love it: Two weeks after the opening of Brudnizki’s first Parisian project came his second – La Fantaisie. As its name suggests, La Fantaisie is all about whimsy and magic, with floral-printed wallpapers, Juliet balconies, exquisitely planted courtyards and a gorgeous indoor piscine. There’s a glorious rooftop bar (Bar sur le Toit) with views over the hip Faubourg Montmartre neighbourhood, plus a traditional Café spilling onto the streets and serving all the local delicacies (read: pastries). The real gastronomic draw here though is the smart ground floor restaurant, Golden Poppy. Helmed by Californian chef Dominique Crenn, it serves authentic, healthy West Coast cuisine – a rarity in cream-loving Paris.
Address: 24 Rue Cadet, Paris, 75009

Price per night: From £372 per night.

Hotel de Crillon
Best for: Gorgeous city views.
Why we love it: Hotel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, is a luxury landmark in Place de la Concorde, one of the most beautiful city squares in the world. This sophisticated hotel has been a favourite of the Parisian It crowd since the 18th century and is still frequented by many an A-list celeb today. With 124 generously sized rooms (with two designed by the late great Karl Lagerfeld himself), you’d be hard pressed to find a more stylish hotel in the City of Love. Don’t forget to check out Sense, A Rosewood Spa, which has a new swimming pool and some swish salons, perfect if you want to recharge after a day of shopping – or get glam for a night on the tiles.

Le Grand Mazarin
Best for: Quirky interior lovers looking for something a little bit different.
Why we love it: Inspired by the literary salons of the 17th century and beyond, where writers and artists would meet and swap ideas, Le Grand Mazarin is one of two new hotels by Martin Brudnizki – the interior designer famed for the maximalist decor at London’s Annabel’s members club and newly opened Broadwick Soho. As to be expected, the interiors are luxurious and opulent – Marie Antoinette would fit right in – with lobster-print wallpaper in the wardrobes, tapestry canopies hanging over the beds and scallop-edged furniture. There’s even a talking point swimming pool featuring a curved ceiling painted with a Cocteau-esque mural (a real trend for 2024). The restaurant offers something a little different to the usual Parisian fare, too, thanks to a menu of Jewish comfort food (we still dream of the goulash) by Ashkenazi chef Assaf Granit. Located in the hip neighbourhood of Le Marais, step outside the hotel to visit the likes of Musée Picasso and Hôtel de Ville (which bedrooms have views of).
Address: 17 Rue de la Verrerie, Paris, 75004

The Ritz
Best for: Going all out on the most special of special occasions.
Why we love it: Come on, it’s The Ritz! A byword in glamour, luxury and history, it’s one of the most famous – and fabulous – hotels in the world. Loved by everyone from Coco Chanel to F. Scott Fitzgerald, this Parisian institution specialises in more-is-more luxury, from monogrammed pillowcases to liveried doormen. The hotel’s famous bars – The Ritz Bar and Bar Hemingway – are worth a look in even if you aren’t staying, and you should try and secure a reservation at the 30-cover restaurant, Espadon, which is headed by a female chef, Eugénie Béziat, for the first time in its history. Perfectly located for newcomers to the city, you can easily walk to the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and Jardin de Tuileries, and if you’re a regular, then a trip to the spa, with its 16-metre swimming pool, beckons. As Ernest Hemingway said, ‘When in Paris, the only reason not to stay at The Ritz, is if you can’t afford it.’ Hear, hear.

Bulgari Paris
Best for: Quiet luxury and people-watching.
Why we love it: Italian glamour meets Parisian refinement at this quietly glamorous five-star on manicured Avenue George V. Its 76 rooms are luxurious without being gauche, and are a study in quiet luxury: think floor-to-ceiling windows, warm leather furnishings and monochrome marble bathrooms. There are numerous mod-cons, including Dyson hairdryers, discreet adaptor plugs, USB chargers and even an iPad to change the room’s temperature, plus other useful touches, like leather pouches for jewellery. Dinner is a sophisticated affair, with the spaghetti alla pomodoro being an exemplary crowd-pleaser. In the summer, make sure to have a sundowner in the beautiful courtyard, a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Arc de Triomphe.
Address: 30 Av. George V, Paris, 75008

Price per night: From £1413 per night.

TOO Hôtel
Best for: A non-traditional stay.
Why we love it: An antidote to the French capital’s plethora of Haussman buildings with Louis XVI interiors, Too Hôtel is all clean lines and mod-cons, taking up residence on floors 17 to 24 of the third tallest building in Paris. With clean, modern interiors, plus luxury flourishes like roll-top bathtubs, in the words of architect Philippe Starck, it’s a ‘palace floating in the sky’ – with rooms offering a choice of three views: the Seine, the Eiffel Tower and downtown. There’s a panoramic restaurant as well as a rooftop bar, TooTacTac, with a gravity-defying al fresco terrace not for the faint of heart. Our top tip? Watch the sun rise from the open air jacuzzi at the TooChill spa on the 17th floor.
Address: 65 Rue Bruneseau, Paris, 75013

Price per night: From £205 per night.
Waldorf Astoria Versailles
Best for: A decadent stay fit for a King or a Queen, just outside of the City of Lights.
Why we love it: It’s true – you can stay in the Palace of Versailles! The Waldorf Astoria Versailles is located on the ground floor of the famous 17th century Palais, which housed Maria Antoinette and Louis XVI before they met their ends via the guillotine during the French Revolution. Decor is unsurprisingly Ancien Regime in style, with chandeliers and gold leaf, with white marble columns and a sprawling lobby where the very friendly staff will welcome you. Just 30 minutes from Paris, it’s popular with locals looking to get out of the city as well as tourists. There’s a Guerlain spa and two Gordon Ramsey restaurants – one, Au Trianon, has a Michelin star.
Address: 1 Bd de la Reine, Versailles, 78000

Price per night: From £201 per night.
Hôtel Les Deux Gares
Best for: Insta-worthy backdrops for your Parisian selfies.
Why we love it: The first hotel from artist and interior designer Luke Edward Hall, Les Deux Gares is located in one of the trendiest up-and-coming neighbourhoods in Paris, Little India, between the two stations of its name, Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est (and therefore only 5 minutes walk from the Eurostar). Imbued with Hall’s playful, Wes Anderson-esque aesthetic, expect clashing hues, tassels, velvet, stripes and prints, with pieces of his own artwork dotted around for good measure. The rooms are adequately sized and just as fun, with ample selfie opportunities in the colourful tiled bathrooms. The bistro, Café Les Deux Gares, is worth a visit in its own right for its ‘formule du midi’, three course lunch for £21 – the beef bourguignon with winter citrus is a must-try – and it’s got pretty impressive eco-credentials too, sourcing its food from local farms where possible. Service is hands-off but friendly, which might be our ideal combination, to be honest. Be sure to explore the local curry houses – the best is Krishna Bhavan.
Address: 2 Rue des Deux Gares, Paris, 75010

Cecil MathieuHôtel du Louvre
Best for: Location, food and décor.
Why we love it: Situated in the heart of the capital on the corner of the Louvre, there is little not to love about the recently renovated Hôtel du Louvre. From its uniquely modern-yet-recognisably Parisienne décor, to its authentic-style restaurant (La Brasserie du Louvre by Bocuse) and super friendly staff, this hotel is our Fashion Editor's top choice for a place to unwind and soak up the local atmosphere during Paris Fashion Week. The Bar - which features an incredible glass roof - is another real highlight, and provides the perfect spot to entertain everyone from romantic couples to colleagues and even solo, exhausted post-Fashion Week editors.

Shangri-La Paris
Best for: Regency rooms.
Why we love it: What's not to love about any Shangri-La hotel? Especially the one in Paris. A former residence of Prince Roland Bonaparte and listed in the French “Monuments Historiques,” Shangri-La Paris is located across the Seine and faces the Eiffel Tower. It reflects both Asian hospitality and French art de vivre with two restaurants (one of which has a Michelin star), pool and spa.

SO Paris Hotel
Best for: Seeing local fashionistas in their natural habitat.
Why we love it: Opened during Paris Fashion Week in 2022, SO/ Hotel Paris has made no secret of its ambition to become a favoured spot for the fashion pack. Indeed, its staff wear uniforms by the fashion house Patou, the artworks in its elevators are NFTs created by locals, and its interiors were designed by the same firm who did a handful of Hèrmes stores. So far, so chic. Then there are its incredible views of the Seine, particularly from the sky-high restaurant, bar and rooftop club (the only one in Paris), Bonnie, which takes its name from the iconic duo Bonnie and Clyde, and is inspired by the ‘free and sultry vibe’ of 1968. Tired from a day's shopping? Head to the Maison Codage Spa for a facial – this trendy brand specialises in bespoke skincare, so expect to come away with a potion or two to take home.
Address: 10 Rue Agrippa d'Aubigné · Paris, 75004

Price per night: From £424 per night.
InterContinental Paris Le Grand
Best for: The grand exterior and interiors.
Why we love it: Beautifully maintained and restored, Le Grand is one of the city’s oldest hotels and still boasts original architectural flourishes and decor from the mid-19th century when it was built. Impossibly glamorous, some of its well-heeled former clientele include King Edward VII of England, the Shah of Iran and Oscar Wilde – what an interesting dinner party that would have been! Ideally located for tourists, the city very much grew up around the hotel – in fact, the Eiffel Tower was merely a twinkle in Gustave Eiffel’s eye at the time that it first opened. With a world-class restaurant and impeccably turned out staff, a stay here harks back to the golden age of travel – so pack accordingly.

Mama Shelter Paris La Defense
Best for: Big on style but easy on your budget. Why we love it: The latest addition to Mama Shelter’s offering in Paris is located in the business district of La Defense, an up-and-coming neighbourhood. Sky-high bedrooms across 14 floors offer some of the best view of the city out of any of the hotels that we’ve stayed at, with high-rises being a rarity. The best vantage point is the rooftop terrace, where you’ll also find hipster locals rubbing shoulders with tourists during happy hour. There are three restaurants to choose from, though the main one, Mama’s Penthouse, is our favourite, with its Asian-inspired menu of green curry and miso-glazed aubergine..
Address: 10 Rue Jean Jaurès, Paris, 92800

Sinner, EVOK Collection
Best for: Absorbing the eclectic Parisian coolness of Le Marais.
Why we love it: This chic 43-room hotel is located in the heart of Paris’ coolest neighbourhood, Le Marais. Home to the the vibiest bars, the city’s best Italian restaurants, stylish boutiques, plus the most fashionable Parisians (natch), Le Marais is one of the most desirable neighbourhoods in the city and for good reason. Elegant and provocative, the Sinner Hotel perfectly reflects Le Marais’ eclectic charms.

Le Meurice
Best for: We are understandably obsessed with brunch at Angelina’s.
Why we love it: A Parisian institution, Le Meurice is one of the city’s most historical and most luxurious destinations on the beautiful Rue Rivoli. Floor-to-ceiling windows highlight the decadent interiors by Philippe Starck, while charming Parisian doormen welcome you with a smile and a cheery ‘Bonjour’. There is also a Dali-inspired restaurant and of course, Angelina’s, one of the most famous brunch spots in the whole world.
Address: 228 Rue de Rivoli, Paris, 75001

Price per night: From £1,228.
La Réserve Paris Hotel & Spa
Best for: Views of the Eiffel Tower.
Why we love it: At La Réserve Paris you can live out all your aristocratic fantasies – after all, this decadent, Haussman-style building was built for the Duc de Morny (Napoléon III’s brother). Think velvet drapes, parquet flooring and brocade sofas, and you’ll be on the right lines. There’s a fabulous spa which specialises in anti-ageing treatments, plus rather unusually for Paris, an indoor swimming pool of large proportions. Restaurant-wise, you’re spoilt for choice, with the two Michelin-starred Le Gabriel and La Pagode de Cos, which specialises in global cuisine. Bon appetit!

Four Seasons Hotel George V
Best for: Easy access to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysées.
Why we love it: The Four Seasons Hotel George V is old world glamour at its finest. The Arc de Triomphe is just a five minute walk away and so are all the chic haute couture boutiques and mega stores of the Champs-Elysees. This stylish Art Deco hotel has been the place to see and be seen in Paris since 1928 and well and truly reflects the decadence and panache of the roaring twenties. Impeccable service, trendy designer furnishings, a three Michelin star restaurant and a quintessentially French ambiance, make this one of our top picks. While the price tag certainly packs a punch - we think it's a great choice for a splash out stay or special occasion.

Designed by Didier Benderli, the hotel has 47 individually designed rooms and suites, while its Les Parisiens restaurant is one of Saint Germain’s hottest tables.

Why we love it: Situated in the 1st arrondissement, the Mandarin Oriental Paris is a great base to explore this chic neighbourhood's most iconic sights including Place Vendôme, Jardin des Tuileries and the nearby Musée d’Orsay. This five-star hotel is classy and contemporary and has plenty of Parisian touches like the camellias dotted around the courtyard and a Swarovski crystal chandelier in the lobby. Little luxuries make any stay at the Mandarin Oriental special, and we especially like the champagne welcome and the indulgent pillow choice upon check-in (you can choose from goose down, memory foam and even silk pillowcases!).

Grand Pigalle Hotel
Best for: Nightlife.
Why we love it: Part of the buzzy Experimental Hotel Group, Grand Pigalle is a trendy boutique hotel that’s perfectly placed for exploring the vibrant local nightlife scene of this neighbourhood. If you’re the type to dance the night away, Grand Pigalle is close to all the Pigalle hotspots like Carmen, Hôtel Amour and Dirty Dick. It’s also close to the artsy neighbourhood of Montmartre, which was beloved by the likes of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Modigliani. Inside, the hotel is quirky cool, with retro geometric wallpapers and mid-century modern furnishings. We like the Italian restaurant which has some of the best trattoria dishes in the whole of Pigalle.

Saint James Paris
Best for: A chilled out stay.
Why we love it: Located in the elegant 16th arrondissement is the stylish Saint James Hotel in Paris. Colourful, chic and cosy interiors make this Chateau-style hotel one of our favourites on the Left Bank. It’s also right by the Louis Vuitton Foundation and just a quick walk away from Trocadero (the most Instagrammable spot for the Eiffel Tower) and the Palais de Tokyo. We like the great breakfast at Bellefeuille, the cosy library bar and the Guerlain Spa – which offers the most relaxing massage treatments in the city. There are 50 rooms in the Chateau, most in a joyful colour palette of marigolds and sunny yellows – adding plenty of sunshine.

Why we love it: Just as what you'd expect from the rest of the portfolio, Barrière family's latest address at the heart of Paris is the embodiment of quiet luxury. While the brand-new property, formerly a private residence, sits in a busy neighbourhood filled with iconic landmarks like Place Vendôme and Tuileries, the discreet entrance is tucked in a side street, adding to the intimate charm of the hotel.

Hôtel Lutetia
Best for: Historic luxury in a buzzy neighbourhood.
Why we love it: One of only 12 hotels in Paris bestowed the “Palace” distinction which indicates a level of service above 5 stars, Hotel Lutetia is a true Parisian icon at the centre of buzzy neighbourhood Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Steeped in history, the grand monument erected in 1910 was originally built to house merchants and clients of the nearby Le Bon Marché department store, but over the years the landmark became a meeting place for renowned artists from Picasso to Matisse to congregate beneath its splendid Art Nouveau and Art Deco interiors.
The service and amenities, too, are unparalleled. You could spend an entire day at the serene Akasha spa, then head off to haute hotspot Bar Josephine for a drink before feasting on Brasserie Lutetia's Michelin-starred menu. At the end of the evening, rest your head on Lutetia's monogrammed pillows, but not before checking off the most extensive breakfast you've likely ever laid eyes on. To stay at Hotel Lutetia is to experience Parisian luxury at its finest.
