A woman chose Adele over her BFF's wedding and the internet is divided
A woman picked to go to an Adele concert over her best friend's wedding and it's divided the internet.
The woman - who didn't want to be identified - wrote about the incident on Mumsnet. She revealed that she'd scheduled her wedding date three years earlier and that she'd been friends with the concert goer for over 30 years but when her friend was offered a free ticket to see Adele she chose to attend the concert.
The women asked users of the site for their opinion on what to do. She said that she was hurt but wanted to respect her decision so didn't know if she should bring it up. She wrote:
"I’m getting married this summer. Been with my partner for many years and engaged for 3 and the date has been set since we got engaged.
I have known my oldest friend for my entire life (almost 30 years) and I considered us very close; we went through our entire education together including playgroup, she came on family holidays and we still see each other every week. My friend informed me a while back that she wouldn’t be able to come to my wedding because she has tickets to see a big music act. I have tried to be okay with this as I value our friendship so much and don’t want this to change but I feel completely let down as I know I would never do this to her. Am I being unreasonable?
She got these tickets as a gift at the beginning of this year. I think for me it’s more that she hasn’t even tried to swap them, she’s shown no interest in the wedding. She didn’t even RSVP until I chased her and asked if she was coming or going to the concert.
If it was one of my other friends, I honestly wouldn’t be as fussed. But this is a friend that I genuinely considered to be more like a sister (and that was a mutual thing, not just on my side so I haven’t exaggerated the friendship).
To be fair, she didn’t buy the tickets. They were a gift. But there were five other shows and a dedicated ticket swap website and she didn’t even try to swap her tickets for a different night."
Eek. Some users are outraged by the friend's behaviour while others sympathised with the friend's decision saying that they wouldn't miss their favourite artist's concert for a wedding.
