All the beauty trends dominating catwalks during fashion month
While it may seem strange to focus on autumn/ winter 2022 when spring is yet to arrive, the beauty trends that emerged from Fashion Week are impossible to resist. New York, London, Milan and Paris all delivered on some serious makeup escapism, from futuristic ‘meta’ blue eyeshadow and lipgloss, surprisingly wearable graphic liner, lust-worthy updos and some more experimental, yet nonetheless magnificent, makeup creations (think full face glitter and XXL, textured lashes).
At London Fashion Week, we saw stunning gem-stone adorned eyes at Paul Costelloe and Simone Rocha, while at Paris, models at Givenchy were studded with spage-age silver beads around their mouth and forehead.

At Erdem, hair stylist Larry King created super straight, slicked back ponytails, using the Dyson Corrale hair straightener. “It's a nod to the early 1930s, where there was a dark and mysterious subculture,” Larry told GLAMOUR. “It's a very low side parting, very glossed hair, and also about making the looks very androgynous."

In New York, makeup mogul Pat McGrath wowed with an array of fantastical floral-inspired makeup moments backstage at Shayne Oliver. The “human bouquets” saw models' eyes adorned with petals and lashes loaded with pollen across an entire spectrum of pigments, while skin was kept simple yet stunning.

To create the look, Pat's team used Pat McGrath Lab's Skin Fetish Foundation and Skin Fetish Highlighter + Balm Duo, a backstage beauty staple that created a flawless base for the artistic bouquets. To finish, the team used bold shades from the Mothership I: Subliminal Palette.
Then there was the meta blue moments that saw a new futuristic interpretation of the classic '60s shade. At Dauphinette, models wore shimmery greeny blue gloss on lips and over at Kim Shui, models stepped out on the runway with ethereal frosty blue eyeshadow blended up towards the brows.
Hair has been equally inspiring thanks to the dual-texture ponytails at Sergio Hudson (the crown super slicked back and high shine, with the pony tail cascading out in fluffed-out curls) and the grungy, side-swept, wet-look lengths at Altuzarra.

Blue makeup has evolved dramatically from its classic 60s origins, thank to frosty shades and shimmery finishes that bring it firmly into the present, and beyond. From left to right, models at Saint Laurent stepped out on the runway with cobalt blue liner, models at Kim Shui wore bright blue eyeshadow blended up towards the brows, models at Dauphinette wore shimmery greeny blue gloss on lips, models at Maryam Nassir Zadeh had an ethereal wash across the entire lid and models at Bibhu Mohapatra had an electric feline flick. At London Fashion Week, models at Supriya Lele showcased icy blue bottom lashes in another futuristic interpretation of the trend.

The Euphoria obsession continues well into Autumn Winter with models at The Blonds wearing gem-stones above eyebrows and on the lower, inner corners of eyes, while models at Paul Costelloe had gems beautifully framing eyes all the way around. Most recently, models at Simone Rocha graced the runway with intricate jewelled wings around the eyes, which matched their chandelier earrings.
Seeing Red
It may be an unusual choice, but AW22 is proving that red can a stunning colour choice to wear on the eyes. From left to right, models at LaQuan Smith stepped out with a extreme cat-eye and subtle red accents or a red, floating liner, models at Dion Lee had a dramatic and painterly sweep across the lids, models at Jawara Alleyne wore painterly red eyeshadow and models at Poster Girl wore chunky red dash liner.

Backstage at Sportmax, models were given grungy, smudgy panda eyes. Meanwhile at 16Arlington, models' skin was kept raw while lips were dressed in an iridescent bluish sheen and at Matty Bovan, multicoloured hair by colourist Josh Wood met statement black under-liner.

It wouldn't be fashion week without an eyeliner moment and we've already seen an incredible interpretation at Sergio Hudson with a dramatic, extended flick paired with red eyeshadow and a moody, plum lip, as well as a stunning graphic liner at Carolina Herrera that was paired with glowing skin. At London Fashion Week, models at Molly Goddard stepped out onto the runway with a horizontal black liner, created by makeup artist Thom Walker and models at Roksanda wore a straight-liner on both top and bottom lash lines.

Thick, oversized liner is taking off from where Julia Fox left it. We saw it at Versace, where model's including Bella Hadid had there eyes rimmed with kohl. Roberto Cavalli gave us jumbo wings and Emporio Armani toughened up delicate pink eyeshadow with thick black liner.

Because fashion doesn't have to stop at your shoulders, designers at Dior, Blumarine and Fendi brought accessories into the beauty looks, too. At Dior, embellished alice bands made a statement. At Blumarine hair nets made a comeback and at Fendi, delicate slides were added to wet-look hair for extra interest.

Florals for spring may be a give, but dark lips are synonymous with autumn. This season they were given a grunge spin at Versace, Blumarine and Gucci with ultra deep shades of oxblood, black and inky blue respectively.

Liquid hair has already established itself as one of the biggest hair trends this year but we saw it across the runway, too, where models at Halpern, Moschino and Elisabetta Franchi walked down the runway with ultra glossy silky soft strands.
Big Hair
We predict that big hair will be be one of the biggest Autumn Winter hair trends with dual texture, fluffed up ponytails at Sergio Hudson and brushed out curls at Paul Costelloe.

We also saw XXL unstructured fluffy texture at Rick Owens and Alaia.
Ethereal hair
Windswept, fairytale ethereal hair was seen at Fendi where the models' hair was side-parted and slicked for a wet-look finish, but left piecey. Meanwhile at Supriya Lele and Ermanno Scervino, hair was wispy and whimsical.
Glitz
Backstage at Eckhaus Latta, models rolled their faces into glitter to create a grungy, disco ball effect. Likewise at Marni, glitter was scattered across the models' hair and faces. And at Gucci, glitzy silver tin foil eyeshadow decorated eye lids.
Skimpy Crops
Leave long layers to your scarves, coats and jumpers for autumn because beauty-wise, we saw short neck-baring crops and delicate, skimpy haircuts across several shows, including Paul & Joe, Sportmax and Missoni
