These are all the major hair trends coming out of fashion week AW21
The AW21 fashion calendar has been a departure from the norm and as Paris Fashion Week wraps, marking the end of the season, we look back at all the details, drama and killer hairdos from the past month.
A largely digital affair, this time round, designers didn't let restrictions stop them from serving up a virtual smorgasbord of fashion and beauty inspiration.
For the most part, the hair looks we’ve seen from this season have been more low-key, relaxed and accessible, meaning we can translate them straight into our own beauty routines if we fancy. It’s something Victoria Beckham touched on while speaking virtually about the influence behind the beauty look at her presentation. “This time that we’re in has definitely changed our attitudes when it comes to hair and beauty. We’ve taken positives from that and used an element of that thinking to inform the hair look. It’s a little bit more relaxed. There’s a sense of ease and wearability. It’s worn, but it’s still done." Serving up thick, swooshy power fringes and worn bobs, "the hair look was inspired by the early 90s," she explained. Heavy, natural and with a bit of a bend in it.

Ponytails dominated. At Giambattista Valli they were elevated with pearl-studded headbands. At Laura Biagotti, they were updated with beaded barrettes. At Erdem, they were paired with woolen headbands (a chic way to keep ears warm in winter), and at Jason Wu the texture was kept natural and laidback.
Bibhu Mohapatra showcased bouffant updos alongside natural, beautiful afros and at Yuhan Wang's presentation natural textured hair was celebrated.
Dainty low buns cropped up at Jonathan Simkhai, Philip Lim and Paul Costelloe, while at Prabal Gurung, hairstylist, Evanie Frausto used Bumble & Bumble products to create beautifully polished plaits. Etro and Baum und Pferdgarten both delivered a twist on simple plaits, offering up face-framing micro braids as an easy way of introducing a little bit of extra detail to hair.
Of course, there were some moments of delicious hair escapism, too. D&G was a riot of crazy colour and cuts. Multi-coloured buzzcuts appeared alongside bubblegum blue mullets and flame-coloured pixie crops. At Simone Rocha, models rocked gravity-defying structural braids, looped high around heads and studded with jewels, meanwhile Lavie By CK gave us Big Afro Energy with a ginormo bleach blonde 'fro.
