Just when we thought Disney+ couldn’t get better, the streaming service has now added to its stellar lineup of escapist classic films – from Aladdin to Lion King – and epic programming with the launch of its new brand, Star on Disney+. So, get yourselves on that sofa and prepare for more drama, more thrills, laugh-out-loud comedies and new exclusive TV shows.
Adding to Disney+’s all-star lineup of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic movies and TV shows, Star on Disney+ serves up even more binge-worthy shows and must-watch movies from Disney Television Studios (20th Television and ABC Signature), FX Productions, 20th Century Studios and more.
This includes cult TV classics such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer , everyone’s favourite cry-your-eyes-out TV show Grey’s Anatomy and the badass babe herself, Olivia Pope in the addictive series, Scandal . AND if that wasn’t enough, all-new exclusive content from the Kardashians and the Jenners will be coming later this year, too. SCREAMS!

The lowdown: From the maker of everyone’s favourite TV shows Big Little Lies and The Undoing, David E. Kelley, comes a new addictive series following private detectives Cody, played by 90’s heartthrob, Ryan Phillippe and Cassie (Kylie Bunbury). Just when their jobs couldn’t get any more stressful, whilst searching for two kidnapped sisters, the pair team up with Cody’s ex wife and former police officer Jenny, and soon the unlikely trio end up in a race against time to stop the kidnapper before a murder takes place.

The lowdown: Iconic noughties show Ugly Betty is back on UK screens thanks to Star on Disney+! The four seasons of the TV show follow America Ferrera's Betty who struggles to fit in the uber-competitive environment of fashion magazine, Mode. If you haven't met Betty's arch enemy Wilhelmina Slater played by Vanessa Williams, prepare yourselves!
DISNEY +3/10- Scandal (TV show)
The lowdown: There are icons and then there is Olivia Pope, the PR pro and former lover of the President of the United States, played to perfection by Kerry Washington. Full of twists, turns, affairs, secrets, red wine, killer outfits and Prada handbags, Scandal’s four seasons follow Olivia as her crisis management firm and its employees become embroiled in drama after drama. Addictive.
DISNEY +4/10- Black-Ish (TV show)
The lowdown: The Golden Globe award-winning comedy smash Black-ish starring GLAMOUR favourites, Tracee Ellis Ross and Yara Shahidi is FINALLY available in the UK. Now in its seventh season the comedy show follows a suburban American family who attempt to fit in with the neighborhood and find their place in society. Comedy gold.
2Oth Television5/10- Love Victor (TV show)
The lowdown: Set in the world of the gamechanging queer coming-of-age movie Love, Simon, this new TV show follows Victor (Michael Cimino), a teen dealing with the ups and downs of high school while coming to terms with his identity and sexuality. After Victor finds himself being blackmailed over his closeted sexuality, he reaches out to Simon for support. Plot spoiler, this show is beyond heartwarming.
DISNEY +6/10- Moulin Rouge! (Movie)
The lowdown: If you haven’t watched this movie already, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? This musical extravaganza with fist-pumping songs galore and more sequins than Kylie Minogue’s wardrobe (who aptly has a cameo in this Baz Luhrmann film) is set in Paris’ bohemian nightclub and stars Nicole Kidman as performer and courtesan, Satine and Ewan McGregor as the penniless writer with a taste for romance, Christian. The pair fall in love with devastating consequences, but get ready to sing, dance and cry all the way through.
DISNEY +7/10- Atlanta (TV show)
The lowdown: Donald Glover won an Emmy award for his portrayal of music manager Earn in his own comedy-meets-drama series, Atlanta. Following the ups and downs of the hot rappers on Atlanta’s music scene, there really isn’t a show with this tone out there right now. If you race through the two seasons do not fear, as two more seasons are coming, one arriving this year.
DISNEY +8/10- The Favourite (movie)
The lowdown: The Favourite won its leading lady Olivia Coleman an Oscar and gave us one of the most gamechanging period films ever made. Olivia makes it reign as an ageing Queen Anne who sidelines her long-serving lover Sarah, played by Rachel Weisz in favour of Emma Stone’s Abigail. The love triangle brings shoot-outs (yes, really), laugh-out-loud scenes and three leading women at the height of their powers.
DISNEY +9/10- The Devil Wears Prada (movie)
The lowdown: We are still shooketh at finding out that Anne Hathaway was ninth in line for the role of Andy, an aspiring journalist who ends up assisting the infamous magazine editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). In order to succeed in the world of fashion magazines Andy must update her wardrobe and fend off competition from fellow assistant Emily (the wonderful Emily Blunt). The word iconic is used a lot, but this movie truly is.
DISNEY +10/10- Grey’s Anatomy (TV show)
The lowdown: 99-drama! Did someone call for a doctor? Well, seasons 1-15 of medical show Grey’s Anatomy have landed on Star on Disney+, along with its stars Sandra Oh, Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey. Get your tissues and the ice cream, this is a heartbreaking comfort watch.
