The season of winter skin is officially upon us. And you know what? With the right skincare products to hand, it's about time we embraced it.

As the temperature drops (and the central heating is whacked up), our skin dries out quicker, which can lead to tightness and blemishes. You'd be forgiven for thinking that now is the time to invest in an assortment of strong exfoliators to blast some life back into your skin – but that's not necessarily the case.

As the season shifts, so do our skincare concerns. And winter skin can present a whole host of challenges (and opportunities) for us, especially if we have sensitive skin. While it may be tempting to overhaul your skincare routine entirely, we'd wager that making small, simple changes will actually make the biggest impact when it comes to protecting your skin.

The best way to start implementing those small changes? Start paying attention to the ingredients of your fave products. If you don't recognise an ingredient, never be afraid to look it up. It's going on your skin, after all.

One ingredient you're likely to recognise is turmeric or Curcuma longa. That's right, it's not just great for seasoning your scrambled tofu (if you know, you know), turmeric is a secret weapon for the skincare savvy.

The spice plant, which belongs to the same family as ginger, is a natural anti-oxidant; this  could be beneficial for a number of skin complaints, including sensitive/rough skin , dullness, and puffiness. It contains a fantastic component called curcumin, which has those lovely antioxidant properties that your skin loves .

As great as turmeric is, we recommend using it as an ingredient in an existing skincare product – NOT as part of a homemade face mask. That is, if you don't fancy being left with a yellow tinge for at least a week.

And it just so happens to be the key ingredient in Neutrogena® Clear & Soothe range, which consists of a Jelly Micellar Makeup Remover, a Mousse Cleanser, a Toning Mist, and a Moisturiser. Did someone say winter skincare saviour?

Neutrogena are pretty much renowned for their tailored skincare solutions, and the Clear & Soothe range is no exception. Perfect for those with sensitive and spot-prone skin, the products have been developed with dermatologists to help combat the effects of everyday stressors (such as errr, gale force winds), which can seriously take a toll on our skin.

Even better? This range harnesses the powerful benefits of turmeric to soothe and balance out sensitive and/or dehydrated skin, as well as helping to protect the skin barrier from future breakouts. So many green flags.

Let's take a sneak-peek at the range, shall we?

Start by removing the day (or nights, we got you) makeup with the Clear & Soothe Jelly Micellar Makeup Remover. Its silky soft, water-based formula gently rinses off makeup (including waterproof, we might add) leaving your skin feeling completely clean with no unwanted residue.

Next up, it's time to cleanse with the Clear & Soothe Mousse Cleanser, removing dirt, oils, and other impurities, which are likelyto clog up our pores.

If you're on the go, the Clear & Soothe Toning Mist is perfect for freshening up your skin, providing you with a quick pick-me-up whenever you're in need. The non-comedogenic formula is ideal for stressed-out or sensitive skin.

If we had to choose one star product from the mix, it would definitely be the Clear & Soothe Moisturiser. A reliable moisturiser is by far the most important product to have in your skincare arsenal when winter comes around. As the drop in temperature causes our skin to become dehydrated, a moisturiser will restore some of that all-important hydration – that doesn't mean you skimp out on drinking water too.

Neutrogena's Clear & Soothe Moisturiser has a water-based, gel formula, which absorbs quickly into your skin delivering essential hydration.

It's had some pretty mega reviews too, with one Boots customer writing about the moisturiser, “This is so fab. Small bottle but a tiny bit goes a long way for sure. My face is so hydrated and refreshed after putting this on great pick me up whenever I put it on.”- mlivingston; Bristol

One customer wrote, “This moisturiser smells lovely, and sinks into the skin quickly. Helps to hydrate the skin but doesn't make me too oily,” - VBridgen; London while another added, “A nice and light moisturiser, great for days where you don't want anything too thick and heavy. Smells great and good value for money!” - jennylouise; Manchester.
