Yung Filly charged with rape and sexual assault allegations – here's what we know so far

Yung Filly, a British rapper and YouTuber, has been arrested in Brisbane and extradited to Perth, Australia, on charges of rape and assault.

The 29-year-old internet personality, born Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday (9 October), charged with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, four counts of sexual penetration without consent, and one count of impeding a person's normal breathing by applying pressure to their neck.

The case was adjourned, and Barrientos is now on conditional bail, which means he cannot contact the alleged victim or post about the case on social media.

Barrientos, who has over 3 million Instagram followers, is known for featuring in the YouTube collective Beta Squad, appearing on The Great Celebrity Bake Off and Soccer Aid, and his brand partnerships with Footasylum, McDonalds, and Heinz. More recently, he's been releasing music as a rapper.

Saturday 28 September

Barrientos performs at a venue in Hillarys, a coastal suburb in northern Australia. The Western Australia Sex Assault Squad allege that he sexually assaulted a woman in his hotel after the event.

Sunday 6th October

Barrientos performs at the Havana RNB Nightclub on the Gold Coast in Australia. MoshTix described Filly as being “known for his high-energy performances and infectious charisma”, adding, “Yung Filly will keep the party going with his electrifying set.”

Tuesday 8th October

Barrientos is arrested in Brisbaine.

Wednesday 9th October

Barrientos is extradited to Perth, where he's charged with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, four counts of sexual penetration without consent, and one count of impeding a person's normal breathing by applying pressure to their neck.

Thursday 10th October

The Western Australia Police read the following statement:

“WA Police Sex Assault Squad detectives will allege that on Saturday 28 September 2024, the man sexually assaulted a woman in her 20s, in his Perth hotel room after he had performed at a venue in Hillarys.”

Barrientos appears before Perth Magistrates' Court. He wore a grey jumper and spoke only to acknowledge his name and the charges against him.

He was represented by Seamus Rafferty SC, who successfully argued for bail.

A number of young people, who described themselves as fans of Barrientos, were reportedly sat in the public gallery.
