Ashley's had a rough time of it through The Boys season 4. It turns out being the CEO at Vought isn't actually all that fun, particularly with it essentially now fully under Homelander's increasingly erratic grip.

That said, against all odds and following a near resignation (we wouldn't blame you, gal), she just about managed to scramble her way through to the finale episode.

But what does the future actually look like for her and what powers does Ashley get? That's the unexpected question we've been left with after certain developments in the final episode of season 4.

Let us explain…

What happened to Ashley in The Boys season 4 episode 8?

In the final episode of The Boys season 4 we see Homelander enacting his plot to take over America. In an effort to prevent any disgruntled former employees from ruining his pristine, totally non-psychopathic image, he commands that The Seven kill off anyone in Vought Tower who might have some unsavoury intel on him.

Among that list is, unsurprisingly, Vought's mascot CEO Ashley Barrett.

However, in the moments beforehand we see Ashley inject herself with Compound V before the Supes have a chance to get to her.

After doing so we see her hunch over and crying in pain, with her hair falling out as she does so. Vitally, the screen cuts away before we get a chance to see what happens next, though it seems like something is shifting in her body, more specifically around her spine.

What are Ashley's powers?

While we can't know for sure, we'd say it's fairly safe to assume that Ashley is now a Supe, though it remains to be seen what her powers will be. Many fans have joked that given her transformation in the finale they'll be hair-related.

As Ashley doesn't appear in The Boys comics, there's nothing for us to refer to as a point of reference, though others have speculated that it could be something to do with her brain given her head is the main part of her body affected when she has the Compound V.

Could she join team Butcher to help him get that little bit closer to killing off all the Supes? Or will she be scurrying back to Homelander's side?

Looks like we'll have to wait until The Boys season 5 to get a concrete answer – watch this space!
