When it comes to hair, JLo, Kim Kardashian and Dua Lipa all have a secret weapon. His name? Chris Appleton. The Brit-born, LA-based stylist is the talent behind some of the celebs' most iconic looks – from Kim's bleached blonde Met Gala switch-up, to JLo's half time blow dry at the Super Bowl.
Chris has worked on shoots, red carpets and events and – no-doubt – along the way, he's had to come up with some quick and creative solutions when short on time. Which is why he's the man to go to for some seriously effective hair hacks.
He's previously spilled the secret to an XXL Ariana ponytail (two ponytails stacked one on top of the other) and recently he's given us a shortcut to some seriously phwoar volume, too, for ponies that look a little sad and limp.
In a recent Instagram post, Chris shared a video of himself crafting the cute hairstyle with the caption, “try this volumizing pony hack.”

After creating a regular mid-height ponytail at the crown of the head, Chris slid the hair band back a couple of centimetres to loosen it. He created a hole in the hair just above the band, then folded the ponytail under the band and backwards all the way through the hole to create extra height, since the ponytail sits on top of the band. He pulled the ponytail tighter to cinch it up even highter and finished by tousling it with his fingers. The result, he says, is double the volume, which we can definitely work with.
