I tried this hair growth serum for 3 months and was asked if I was wearing extensions

The results shocked me.

The UKLASH Cyber Monday sale has officially kicked off, and there’s genuinely no better time to pick up my go-to hair growth serum - it’s £28 right now, down from £40. The question I get asked the most? “Is your hair real?” And yes, it is… but I can’t pretend it’s all down to genetics. Before my wedding, I finally decided to take my hair health seriously, and even though I was pretty sceptical about serums in general, this one ended up surprising me in the best way.

My hair has always been on the thicker side, but growing it past a certain length? A whole different challenge. Years of bleaching - from my questionable dip-dye era to a very committed balayage phase - left the ends dry, fragile and basically stuck at the same point for what felt like forever. And honestly, as a beauty journalist, I’d tried pretty much every trick going: rosemary-oil scalp massages, endless trims (my bank account still hasn’t forgiven me), and more hair masks than I’d care to admit. Nothing ever gave me the kind of results I was hoping for.

With my wedding coming up (and me getting a little bit desperate to actually see some growth), I decided to put my investigative journalism skills to the test to find the very best hair serums for growth that actually work. I also enlisted the help of trichologist and hair salon owner Deborah Maguire, who explained to me: "Hair growth serums work by creating a more optimal environment for the follicle. They can help to stimulate blood circulation to nourish the root, calm inflammation that restricts growth, extend the hair’s growth phase and deliver active ingredients that help ‘wake up’ sluggish follicles.” Sold.

After testing the very best eyelash serums ahead of my wedding too, one brand stood out in particular: UKLASH. Having used it for almost a year, the difference in my eyelashes was huge, so when they launched their own UKLASH UKHAIR Hair Growth Serum, it felt only fair to give the hair on my head the same level of love.

What’s actually inside the UKLASH Hair Growth Serum?

The ingredient lineup is seriously impressive, and where this serum really shines. The star of the show is AnaGain™ (pea sprout extract), a plant-based complex rich in amino acids that supports the natural hair growth cycle by encouraging follicles back into action.

There’s also lemon fruit water, which delivers vitamin C to strengthen the follicle, and turmeric, known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties that help keep the scalp balanced. While it doesn’t promise overnight results, the ingredients are well thought out and have been formulated to protect and improve your hair and scalp health over time.

How do you apply the UKLASH Hair Growth Serum?

To get the best results, I used it once a day for 3 months, applying 1-2 pipettes straight onto my dry scalp and massaging it in. The texture is genuinely one of my favourite things about it. It’s super lightweight, dries quickly and doesn’t leave my roots greasy which meant I didn’t have to wash my hair after using it, or scrape it back in a pony - my go-to greasy hair hack.

Now for the honest bit. This isn’t a quick fix, it does take time and patience. I didn’t notice anything dramatic at first, but around the 12-week mark I started seeing new growth around my temples, where I’d previously had shedding. From then on, my hair slowly started looking longer, shinier and just… healthier. Not to big myself up, but I constantly get asked whether my hair's natural, or if I'm wearing extensions which is the best compliment (IMO).

According to UKLASH, many customers notice new growth around temples and hairlines within 3-6 months. Users report thicker, stronger hair and reduced shedding, particularly those experiencing thinning due to menopause, stress, or other factors.

However, it's not all positive. While some users see results within weeks, others need several months of consistent daily use. A few customers experienced no results, even after extended use, and one reported scalp sensitivity. For some, the the bottle size is considered small for the price point which I have to agree with, but with the Black Friday discount, it makes it much more affordable.

My verdict:

My hair has never looked healthier (or longer).

For me, the UKLASH UKHAIR Hair Growth Serum has become a proper staple in my routine. My hair is actually (dare I say it) a bit too long now - but I’m definitely not complaining. While I don’t use it every single day anymore, I still reach for it a couple of times a week, mainly to keep my scalp healthy and help maintain the condition and growth I’ve worked so hard for.

As a beauty journalist who tests products for a living, it takes a lot for something to genuinely impress me. But both this hair serum and the brand’s eyelash serum are products I recommend to pretty much anyone who mentions hair growth. They’re not quick fixes, but with consistency, they really do make a difference - and that’s what’s kept them firmly on my repeat list.
