Love them or hate them, UGG boots are a certifiably iconic in the world of footwear. Like Birkenstocks and Clogs, UGGs are one of those ugly-comfy shoes that have somehow stood the test of time (yes, Y2K, we are looking at you) and become a timeless wardrobe staple.
Uggs have always been about comfort — they're the boots you slip over your joggers to run to the shop or the fur-lined slippers you slide into on a chilly autumn morning. They are not the shoes you reach for when you're styling jeans with a nice top for an evening out on the town. At least, they weren't until now.
Effortless and understated.
Seeing the words “UGGs” and “heels” together is likely to fill you with a mixture of horror and confusion. But, yes, UGGs have just released a new line — oh so aptly called New Heights —featuring a range of brand new heeled platform models. And, naturally, Jennifer Lopez was the first celeb to make the case for them. (There's a ‘new heights’ Bennifer divorce pun in there somewhere.)
As true UGG afficionados will know, this isn't technically the first time Ugg has flirted with adding a little height to their classic shoe. In fact, they began adding a few tentative inches a few seasons ago. Their New Heights line, however, marks — well — new heights for the brand, as they debut platform boots that are higher than ever before.
Lopez, a long-time fan of the brand, repped a pair of her own platform UGGs, pairing them with ultra wide jeans, a croc-skin Hermès bag and a tight long-sleeved shirt. Although they were not exactly the boots of the New Heights line, they did have a chunky boho heel.
One thing's for sure: if you're looking for a fashion milestone that marks the start of autumn 2024, look no further than the launch of the first UGG boots with heels.
