Tyla's first Met Gala appearance was always going to be one to remember, but we didn't expect it to be one of our favourites of the night.
The singer stepped out at the 2024 Met Gala wearing a Balmain gown made with three different shades of sand that was literally sculpted to her body.
In her red carpet interview Tyla said it was representing the ‘sands of time’, with her body as the hourglass.
She really committed to the "Garden of Time" dress code - refreshingly focussing on the ‘time’ aspect, rather than the ‘garden’ like the majority of tonight's guests - as she carried an hourglass in her hand and carefully placed sand-like glitter in place of the usual shimmering highlighter on her shoulders.
“The inspiration behind this creation stemmed from a desire to redefine boundaries and transform a transient material into an everlasting masterpiece,” Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, told Vogue.
“The idea of sculpting a garment from something as ephemeral as sand ignited my imagination and I could not be happier with the end result.”
She completed her look with a short bob, glowy makeup and a stunning cat eye.
While her dress was like sand through an hourglass, her time in the spotlight is certainly just starting.
At just 22 years old, the South African singer won her first Grammy award, catapulting her into the mainstream. In March, the up-and-comer released "Tyla" her debut studio album to critical acclaim.
