Netflix's Heartstopper season 3 is finally here, with the new season of the coming-of-age rom-com drama seeing the return of all our faves, including Tori Spring.
Charlie's older sister, Tori is the lead protagonist in Alice Oseman's Solitaire, a graphic novel set in the same universe focusing on Tori's relationship with Michael.
But exactly who is she and who plays Tori in Heartstopper? Here's everything to know about the character and actor Jenny Walser who takes on the role of Charlie's older sister in the Netflix series.
Who is Tori in Heartstopper?
Tori has won over Heartstopper fans through the years because of her willingness to say what we're all thinking at key moments in the series.
From the “alone time” she values above all else when Charlie asks why she didn't invite friends over while their parents were out of town to never being afraid to hit people with straight facts, Tori is basically our spirit animal at this point.
Her desire to protect her brother is very apparent and incredibly sweet through the series, with her consistently having Charlie's back. Remember when she told David in season 2 “Talk about my brother like that again and I'll end you”?
What a woman.
In Alice Oseman's novels, Tori is described as having "quite a bony face – sharp cheekbones/jaw and pointy chin", coming in at 5'2" tall with chin length black hair and tan skin.
She seems to always pop up everywhere through the series, and when asked how she manages this wizardry, simply answers with "older sister magic".
Who is Tori's boyfriend in Heartstopper?
In Heartstopper season 3 we get a closer look into Tori's story, with Michael being a close friend who eventually turns into a romantic interest. By the season finale, we see Michael is ready to call Tori his girlfriend, though she has her own reservations.
While Charlie is confused why she won't say yes to being Michael's girlfriend, the series' creator Alice Oseman explains that the answer to Charlie’s question is revealed in her fifth Heartstopper novel, which the show's storyline hasn’t yet reached.
In Volume 5, Tori tells Charlie that she thinks she might be asexual.
“This is why she has been quite confused by her relationship with Michael,” Oseman explains. “She clearly cares about and loves Michael a lot. But she doesn’t really know whether it counts as a relationship or not.”
Darragh Hand takes on the role of Michael in Heartstopper season 3, with the series being his most major role to date, with the actor having had appearances in the horror film Wake Wood and TV show Grace prior.
Who plays Tori in Heartstopper?
Jenny Walser plays Tori Spring in Netflix’s Heartstopper.
A 29-year-old actor from London, in her childhood Walser attended the Rona Hart School of Dance and was a member of the RADA Youth Company.
After going on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences from Durham University in 2016, Walser went on to participate in several theatre productions, even joining the National Youth Theatre REP Company.
While Heartstopper is Walser's biggest role, she also had an appearance in a 2021 episode of Call the Midwife.
Speaking in a recent interview with Teen Vogue, Walser explained how her character has evolved through the seasons.
She explained, “It's been really nice that as she has grown, her style has changed for sure. She's a young woman, a young teen, and this season, she's wearing a bit more colour, which [reflects] a bit more colour in her personality and in her life."
