Yes, you read that right. Too Faced has just launched lip plumping liners. The brand is no stranger to lip plumping products with its lip tingling heroes coming in the form of the Lip Injection lip gloss collection. However, a lip plumping liner is news to us.
Alongside its other smash-hits like the iconic Better Than Sex mascara, the brand has just launched the game-changing Lip Injection Extreme Lip Shaper. As for the deets? The longwear, demi-matte lip liners were designed with innovative plumping technology to leave lips looking fuller and more defined than ever before. And they're available in six neutral shades that are suitable for a wide range of skin complexions, in a medium-to-full buildable formula which you can use to line, fill and, or, shape.
It's givin' falsies, but home grown

Are we expecting the same lip tingling sensation that the Lip Injection glosses gave? Absolutely, and apparently that's exactly what you'll get. And the best part? The brand promises up to eight hours of wear from the liner, without the product smudging or bleeding. Plus the velvety formula is designed to make it easy to overline lips for a fuller looking pout. As for the fact the product leaves you with a lingering scent of summer berries post application? That's just a gentle bonus. There is a lot to love here.
Five GLAMOUR staffers put five different shades to the test, to see how this innovative lip plumping liner fairs in the real world and here are their truest and most honest thoughts.

Shade: Espresso Shot
I'm a Too Faced stan, and I don't ever leave my house without a just-in-case lip liner in my bag. I've been loyal to the same three lip liners since forever and was curious to see how this one faired against them.
Firstly the shade Espresso Shot is per-fec-toh, for my complexion. It's hard to get lip liners to match dark hued, duo-coloured lips and Too Faced nailed it on that front. The formula is as velvety as they promised and glides seamlessly across the lips, making it quick to apply without having to double coat. Ding-ding, green flag number two. Now on the lip plumping front?
Well, I'm not a huge fan of tingling lip products, and it did feel a little uncomfortable for a while, to the point of me questioning if having plumper looking lips was really worth it. Disclaimer: It was very tingly. However, the feeling went away after a bit of use and the colour did survive the test of time. Maybe not the full eight hours as I only shaped and lined my lips, however, I'm sure if I filled them in completely it would be a different story. I think that I might have to add this one to my loyal, trusty three.

Shade: Big Truffle
I've always been a Too Faced Lip Injection Plumper Lip Gloss stan, so when news dropped that they were bringing out an accompanying lip liner, I was all over it. The packaging is sleek and the liner is insanely creamy. It glides on like an absolute dream. I used the product to line the outside of my lips, and then gently rubbed my lips together to give my lips a nice base colour and ensure I made the most of its plumping abilities. It blended super easily, then I applied lip gloss over the top, et voila! It stayed in place for hours and while it's hard to measure quite how much it increased the size of my lips, I could definitely feel it working. My pout absolutely felt plump.

Shade: Cinnamon Swell
Lip-plumping glosses are a staple in my bag, so a lip-plumping liner definitely piqued my interest. I tried the shade Cinnamon Swell, a warm cinnamon pink, which is the exact type of shade I reach for day to day. It applied super easily and I love that it's retractable so there's no need for any sharpening fuss. After about 40 seconds I began to feel the plumping tingle, getting more intense over the next 5 minutes. Despite the strong burning sensation, I didn't feel like it made a *huge* difference compared to any other lip liner or overlining my lips. Maybe paired with a gloss the effects would be more noticeable, but as is, I'm not convinced that the payoff is worth the pain.

Shade: Hot & Spicy
I love anything that can add some subtle fullness to a lip look, so I was intrigued by the liner iteration of the iconic Too Faced Lip Injection range. The liner itself was creamy and smooth to apply. A light touch gives a defined, long lasting and opaque colour pay off. I tried the shade Hot & Spicy, a caramel nude with a slight orange tone, which blends easily and matched my natural colour well but would likewise adapt to a variety of my go-to lip shades.
A few moments after application the distinct tingling sensation that the lipgloss version has starts to kick in. If you're not used to it, it can feel a little weird initially, but the plumping effect that it gives is undeniable. The liner itself comes out in a beautiful, highly pigmented warm shade, while plumping properties help give a natural-looking boost. Overall, I'm a big fan of how smoothly these apply and how they manage to stay put so well, although I think it will take a few more tries to get used to the unique tingling sensation that comes with these liners.

Shade: Post-Op Pink
A lip liner that can plump your lips? Surely not. As sceptical as I was before applying the new Lip Injection Extreme Lip Shaper from Too Faced, I was also eager to see if it actually worked. Verdict: it does, but perhaps not as much as I'd have liked it to. That familiar stinging feeling was there, and I definitely noticed my lips were poutier than usual, but I think I needed to apply it all over instead of just using it to create definition like I would a normal liner. The colour was spot on for me, a brown-y nude, and the formula itself was easy to apply but not too creamy so as to slip around. As for the staying power? You won't need to top up for at least a few hours. I even ate my lunch after applying it and it stayed put, so for that alone I'll be keeping it on hand.
