<p class="story-body__introduction">Sir Tom Jones has made his
first public appearance since the death of his wife back in April,
giving an emotional talk about her at Hay Festival.

<p class="story-body__introduction">In his emotional talk at the
Wales-based festival, Sir Tom Jones spoke about his wife of
59-years Linda, who sadly passed away in April after a short battle
with cancer.
<p class="story-body__introduction">Speaking to fans about saying
goodbye to his wife, he said: "It's very difficult, the hardest
thing I've ever done in my life.

"We were married for 59 years, we knew each other since we were kids. It was fast, she had cancer."
<p class="story-body__introduction">There didn't seem to be a
dry eye in the house, with Tom included.

Sir Tom Jones's beloved wife, Lady Melinda Rose Woodward -
known as Linda - has died.

<p class="story-body__introduction">According to a statement, Linda
died on Sunday morning from a "short but fierce battle with cancer"
at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
"Surrounded by her husband and loved ones, she passed away peacefully," a statement on 75-year-old Sir Tom's website said.
He recently cancelled concerts due to a "serious illness" in his family.
The pair were married for 59 years, and Tom Jones once said about his wife: "She is an unbelievable woman. She's the most important thing in my life. All the rest is just fun and games."
The couple started dating at 15-years-old and married when they were 16 back in 1957.
They had one son Mark, 59, who is also Sir Tom's manager.
