If you’ve been paying attention to Tom Holland and Zendaya for a minute, then you’d know the two are practically inseparable, going as far as praising each other even when no one asked. That’s why many were surprised when Zendaya attended the Oscars 2024 solo, but fret not because everything has an explanation.
After flying across the world for the Dune 2 press run, Zendaya made her way to L.A. to attend the 2024 Oscars, where she presented Oppenheimer with the Best Cinematography award.
Z arrived fashionably late on the red carpet in an Armani Privé look that many have crowned as the best of the night. However, while the focus was on film and fashion, others were wondering why Tom Holland wasn’t by her side and, well, like most things in life, it looks like the reason was not that deep.

As it turns out, during Oscars weekend, Holland was in London hosting a charitable event called Posh Pub Quiz for the Brothers Trust, so scheduling conflicts strike again. The Brothers Trust event took place at the Claridge’s Hotel in London’s Mayfair on Friday March 8 – content from the night, including pictures of Holland, was shared as promo all throughout the weekend.

While it looks like Tom Holland skipped the Oscars for a good cause, it's likely he might not have posed with Zendaya on the red carpet even had he attended as her Oscars plus one. Lest we forget that when Zendaya shut down the London premiere of Dune 2 in her Mugler armour, Holland skipped the red carpet despite being present at the event to support his girlfriend. The couple has only posed together on the red carpet for Spider-Man events.
Both Zendaya and Holland seem to value their personal relationships over the glitz and glam of Hollywood. Last year, Zendaya actually skipped the 2023 Oscars to spend time with Holland and his family in London. During Oscars weekend, the duo were spotted on a cute date at Richmond Park.
That said, Zendaya is set to make her grand Met Gala return at this year’s event as a co-host, so maybe she’ll bring Holland along? We can only hope! And if that doesn’t happen, we’ll always have next year’s Oscars, where we have a feeling Dune 2 will probably have some noms. And there's also Challengers.
