We’re so back. Season four of The Traitors has finally arrived, and a fresh battle between Traitors and Faithfuls is underway, presided over by Claudia Winkleman and her iconic fringe. It's clear why the previous season was one of the best TV shows of 2025.
While the usual scheming is in full swing — three Traitors who will inevitably turn on each other — there’s also far more going on in the stunning Scottish castle than we’ve seen before.
Out of the season four cast, Stephen, Hugo, and Rachel were named as Traitors. But Claudia revealed a secret twist: an additional Secret Traitor. Gasp. Their identity is unknown to the rest of the cast (including the other Traitors) and the audience — a true puppet master behind the scenes.
“The red cloak is a Secret Traitor, a Traitor that is secret from everyone in the game and even the viewers from home,” the show explained on Instagram. “They can shortlist a group of players for murder every night, which the Traitors have to pick from. They also know exactly who the Traitors are.”

And that’s not all: season four is packed with surprises, including a brewing familial twist. Let’s dive into the juiciest fan theories about The Traitors season four.
Expect the unexpected this season, including a war between Traitors.

It's All Relative
In the first episode, we learned that contestants Netty and Ross are old friends from London. Convenient, to say the least. Then came the bombshell: Roxy is Judy’s adoptive daughter.
Talk about a coincidence, but fans aren’t convinced it’s random. Many believe that every contestant knows at least one other person in the castle, whether as a friend or family member.
Central to the theory is a framed “family tree” of all 22 contestants, on display in the castle. The edges are inscribed with words in Latin, which roughly translate to:
“Beware whom you trust as your own blood. The sharpest knives are often handed to the table by faithful servants. Among intimate friends lurk the most secret enemies; take care not to let your confidence become the cause of your downfall and agitation.”
The Traitors theory: Could everyone know someone in the castle? Social media sleuths have noted that Hugo and Harriet have both worked in England as barristers and may have crossed paths. Could Rachel and James be siblings? Jade and Jessie, a couple? Ross and Netty, husband and wife?
Contestants even speculated that Fiona and Hugo might be an item, though she quickly clarified: “We’re not — I’m a lesbian.”
It’s worth remembering that this wouldn’t be the first time producers have cast contestants with pre-existing relationships — season one had couple Alex and Tom, and season two featured mother-son duo Ross and Diane.
Ellie and Ross are a couple
This The Traitors fan theory is heating up, centred on psychologist Ellie, 33, and sales executive Ross, 37, who both live in London. Social media sleuths noticed that the pair seemingly went on holiday together, posting from the same destination at the same time, and later spotted Ross liking Ellie's job promotion on LinkedIn.
“Even if they are a secret couple or have been hanging out, what we do not know is if they met on the show or if we’re about to see a romance unfold on The Traitors,” explained Indigo Stafford on her popular @indigoreports platform. “I believe that would be the first time we’ve ever seen that.”

Indigo noticed existing chemistry between the two on the train, but some fans are convinced they’re already a couple, hiding it from viewers and contestants alike.
“[They are] secretly already a couple!” claimed one viewer. “It was odd when they ‘met’ and both said they lived in London but neither asked any further questions.” Another agreed: “I thought the same thing.”
Things got even more interesting when an unearthed photo showed the pair together a year before filming. Taken in London during a team outing for Damo’s Personal Trainers, Ellie and Ross are pictured side by side, with Ross casually resting his arm around her waist as the team enjoyed a meal at Eco Restaurants.
Ross, who works at the gym according to its Instagram page, did acknowledge former acquaintance Netty on the show — but notably, not Ellie. Could there be more to their story than meets the eye?
Adam isn't a builder
Some fans are convinced that Adam, a 34-year-old builder from Essex, is pulling the wool over our eyes. Just like season three’s Charlotte pretended to be Welsh all season to seem more trustworthy, Adam might be hiding behind a different job.
In his interview with Claudia, he revealed that he is actually “a strategist.” He’s studied body language and is an amateur ghost hunter. It reminds us of season three’s Leanne, a former British Army soldier who pretended to be a nail technician to gain trust as a Faithful.
What's next for our Traitors?

New Secret Traitors
There’s already a lot of speculation about what would happen if the Secret Traitor is caught.
Would they simply announce, “I’m a Traitor,” as they leave the roundtable, or reveal the full extent of their role to the group? Most think they won’t admit their secret, leaving the remaining Traitors in even more chaos.
And what if they’re banished early on — would the producers select another Secret Traitor?
Fans reckon yes. After all, Claudia wouldn’t want to give up the drama just yet.
The Secret Traitor: Sam
Now let's dig into the real drama: Who is the Secret Traitor?
Sam is currently the frontrunner for Secret Traitor — and it all comes down to one bold move.
During a challenge, his team was the first to reach the gravesite, and he placed the coffin in Rachel’s grave, telling the others they’d “just picked the closest.” But he did it so quickly, almost as if he already knew she was a Traitor.
He also suggested that the Traitors would be smart to eliminate someone who wouldn’t make them look suspicious, giving them a clean getaway. When the known Traitors received the shortlist, they seemed genuinely baffled by how random it looked.
The Secret Traitor: Jade
After Claudia picked her Traitors, Jade’s demeanour seemed to shift. She went completely quiet and looked noticeably nervous at the roundtable, despite previously being confident when talking about her love of gaming. She also wasn’t shown in a testimonial afterwards — perhaps a clever editorial move to throw viewers off.
Fans have been dissecting the timing of Claudia’s roundtable walk and believe it may have stopped at Jade.
Interestingly, Jade didn’t declare that she wanted to be a Faithful in her entry interview, but in the edit, she was the only contestant shown telling Claudia she didn’t want to be a Traitor. Suspicious, much?
The Secret Traitor: Ross
Ross was shocked to run into Netty at the castle — someone he knew but hadn’t seen in years.
The pair have been a little shady about how they actually know each other, brushing off questions by claiming they used to share a mutual friend. While Netty immediately revealed their connection, Ross hinted he would rather have kept it quiet.
Could this be why Netty found herself on the murder shortlist?
The Secret Traitor: Jack
Okay, Jack just exudes Secret Traitor energy — but there’s more evidence than just vibes, we swear.
One fan wrote: “I think the Secret Traitor is Jack. He is a chess player who is used to working by himself. But also, when they did the naming at the first roundtable, they didn’t show a board with his handwriting, which probably would have matched the scroll given to the main Traitors.”
Another added: “My current theory for the Secret Traitor on #TheTraitors is this guy, Jack. They specifically showed us the clip where he says he plays chess every day, is strategic, and good at reading people. This kind of role in the background suits him perfectly, honestly.”
The Secret Traitor: Harriet
Now, this The Traitors theory comes with some pretty damning evidence. On the most recent episode of the spin-off, The Traitors: Uncloaked, eagle-eyed viewers spotted four framed photographs on the back wall of the set.
Three of the four portraits featured known Traitors Hugo, Rachel, and Stephen — but the fourth was of fellow contestant Harriet, a 52-year-old crime writer and former barrister.
Why would she be up there with them over any other Faithful? Suspicious, to say the least…
Harriet was the ringleader behind Hugo’s banishment after his over-the-top reaction to Ben’s murder — but some fans think she could actually be the Secret Traitor, since she must have known his true identity.
The Secret Traitor: Roxy
Judy was the first to be banished, and Roxy’s reaction didn’t go unnoticed. Was she frustrated because Judy was her kin, or because she knew for certain that Judy wasn’t a Traitor?
Judy later shared on Uncloaked: “Roxy gave me a look, and I thought, ‘She must be a Traitor.’”
Adding to the mystery, Judy’s handwriting appears to be the best match when comparing the letters on the murder list and the voting chalkboard. Could there be more to her banishment than meets the eye?
Even the most beloved reality show on television holds a mirror up to our unconscious biases.
