In the special message, Prince William says: "London 2012 saw this country come alive with a passion for sport. It saw people of all ages, and from all walks of life, join together to support Team GB."

"Each member of Team GB will have a unique journey, but they all share the same aim -to deliver the best performance they possibly can," continued Harry, while the Duchess added "we are all so excited to see what can be achieved in Rio."

Team GB are preparing to compete in 23 games, in hopes of beating their away from home record of 47 medals in Bejing 2008.

The one and a half minute clip comes to an end as sports lover Harry, urges the country to "get behind them and cheer them on as they take to the world stage."

The 2016 Olympic opening ceremony will take place in Brazil tonight, airing on BBC One at midnight.
