Well, it’s a national holiday: After two years of dating, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. America’s Barbie and Ken are making it official, and I, for one, could not be happier…or more intrigued!
As any good Swiftie knows, a post from TS is never just a post, and though she said on New Heights two weeks ago that Easter eggs will always be about her career and projects, not her personal life, that doesn’t mean there aren’t deeper meanings in what she chooses to share with the world. Our Taylor loves symbolism, this we know, and yes, there are symbols (a person could call them Easter eggs) in her engagement post!
Here’s what we’ve found so far:

The 13s
We don’t know when Travis Kelce actually got down on one knee (recently, by the looks of his haircut), but the announcement came around two years after the pair first linked up (he shouted her out on his podcast in July 2023, and she attended her first Chiefs game in September 2023).
More importantly, they posted the announcement on 26 August. Let’s do math: 26 = 13 + 13. And the time? 1 p.m. ET, which is 13:00 military time. See? Taylor Swift Easter eggs don’t relate back to her personal life, but trust us, they are there.

The watch
We know from Taylor’s (very sparkly! you might even say… bejewelled!) The Cartier Santos Demoiselle watch in the engagement photos shows that Travis popped the question at about six minutes to five. Did he wake her up at dawn or take her to a garden in the late afternoon? Likely the latter, but it’s overcast, so I guess we can’t know for sure.
Anyone with a passing familiarity of the Eras Tour knows a countdown clock is nothing to ignore, so this is certainly something to keep in mind. 4:54…well, that can’t be a wedding date…we shall continue ruminating.
The school motif
Okay, on New Heights, Taylor talked about Travis’ grand romantic overture being the kind of thing she’d “Been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.” Then, in their announcement, the caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.” Taylor posted it to her Stories along with a red heart emoji and her song “so high school,” which is famously about Travis (“You know how to ball, I know Aristotle”) and how he makes her feel like a teenager back in high school.
What does this mean? TBD, but SOMETHING.
The tag
Go with us here. We first started looking at the flowers, because everyone knows there is great symbolism in flowers. Roses for love, peonies for good fortune, etc. But there are so many kinds of flowers here. Which is not to dismiss their symbolism, but more to say, if there was a specific meaning that Travis was trying to communicate to Taylor, or that Taylor is trying to communicate to us, well, it could mean anything, because there are so many flowers.
But there’s only one tree front and centre with a big trunk in that first photo, and that’s where Kelce is tagged because HE IS HER STRONG TREE. Aww.
The dress
It’s a simple, though pretty, stripped sundress by Ralph Lauren, immediately moving the American designer to the top of the list for who could potentially make her wedding gown. What, you think she didn’t know she was getting engaged when she got dressed that morning? Please, her nails match the garden.
