Taylor Swift is a better friend than all of us

Taylor Swift has confirmed what we have long suspected - that she is a better best friend than we could ever hope to be.

The singer surprised her best friend Abigail Lauren by inviting Dashboard Confessional lead singer Chris Carruba to her 25th birthday party. For those of you too young/cool to know who Dashboard are, they are an American emo band who have a lot of feelings - perhaps more than the entire cast of Dawson's Creek. This writer spent the large part of her adolescence pretending to feel angsty while listening to the band's high-pitched acoustics.

So anyway, Swift helpfully shared video footage of her good deed on Instagram; she gets up to do a speech, reminds the party guests of her friend's love of Dashboard, then asks if there is anyone in the room called Chris Carruba. Then, like a phoenix from the ashes, he emerges from the crowd. Her pal, Abigail, loses it. He then starts singing Hands Down, a particularly expressive track, and everyone joins in.

"Thank you Taylor Swift & all of my incredible friends & family for making my 25th birthday the most magically memorable night I've ever had," wrote Abigail on Instagram.

Dear Taylor, just a little note to day that Chris Carruba and his guitar are always welcome in the GLAMOUR office.
