Madame Web is about to hit theatres worldwide, and its main supporting trio is dressing up for the occasion. Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O'Connor attended the Madame Web premiere in Los Angeles on February 12, and while Dakota Johnson made a statement with a stunning naked dress by Gucci, these three did not take a backseat.
Much like Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, who plays Julia Cornwall in the upcoming Sony film, decided to pay homage to her character's arachnid powers with a spider-reminiscent design.
The former GLAMOUR cover star was styled by Molly Dickson and opted for a custom Oscar de la Renta gown that featured a tight corseted bodice with black embroidery simulating a cobweb.
Sweeney's dress cascaded into a black rouleau fringe that barely let her shoes peek through. She kept her accessories simple, wearing earrings and multiple rings by Fred Leighton on her fingers and nothing on her chest or ears. On the beauty side, she also kept things simple, wearing her blonde her in subtle side-swept waves for a touch of glamour and a nude lip with a small winger eyeliner.
Isabela Merced, who plays Anya Corazón in the film, was styled by sister duo Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, whose clients also include Olivia Rodrigo and Rosalía, for the event. The star opted for a major archive look sourced from Alexis Novak's Tab Vintage.
Merced's stunning dress, originally worn by Naomi Campbell on the runway, was a black, embroidered gown from Atelier Versace's spring-summer 1999 couture collection. (So, yes, it was older than the actor.)
The top part of Merced's dress features an intricate scale-like bodice that seamlessly flows into a mesh skirt, with the same pattern appearing again towards the end of the piece's small train. On the beauty front, Merced wore her hair in a slicked-back updo with a small spit curl on her forehead and sideburns. To keep the look monochromatic, the actor opted for black earrings and rings.
Last but not least, Celeste O'Connor, who plays Mattie Franklin, added a pop of color with her monochromatic red look. The star took “go big or go home” literally and made a statement in a gown by South African designer Gert-Johan Coetzee.
Styled by the renowned Jason Rembert, O'Connor's dress was bedazzled from head to toe and made of interlacing pieces of fabric and fringes. The dress was topped off by a stan red cape with a long, voluminous cape that showed her, also red, Jimmy Choo shoes.
O'Connor also wore bedazzled gems on a statement spit curl that adorned the center of her forehead, stemming from her gelled-back 'do, which also featured a super long braid. To keep the crimson vibes going, she also went for a red lip and a matching short nail manicure.
Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O'Connor were first spotted filming for Madame Web together back in 2022. The film, directed by S.J. Clarkson and part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, has been in the works for a while, and it's finally releasing on February 14, 2024, coinciding with Valentine's Day.
