If there's ever a time to rock a standout summer beauty look, this is it. Skin that has been warmed by the sun is the perfect canvas to make colour pop. “I love the contrast of fresh dewy skin with a matte lip," says Celia Burton, European makeup artist for Glossier, who created these looks on the shoot.
The easiest way to get the look? “Give a classic red lip a summery twist with a bright tangerine shade,“ she suggests. Here, she applied Glossier G Suite in Strike. “For a real punch of long lasting colour, I apply the shade, blend with a brush, blot with a tissue, dust over with sheer loose powder, reapply and blot again.”
Ever noticed how skin somehow just looks better in sunshine season? There's actually a reason. The sun activates the skin’s natural oils creating a glowy sheen, so why not embrace the heat effect and channel your inner Hailey Bieber to max a glazed, glowy effect. The only must is SPF protection. As for the rest (makeup or no makeup), it’s up to you.
"There are so many great product hybrids that merge skincare and makeup," says Burton. “I like to work skincare and makeup together for a low key natural look with the benefits of both."

For the shoot, she prepped model Vivi's skin with Glossier Future Dew, a hydrating serum that delivers a glow, layering with an SPF spray over the top. Try La Roche-Posay Anthelios Face Mist SPF 50, £17.90. Or apply Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 50, £32 as a protective base layer. The transparent formula makes it suitable for all skin tones.
If you want a little more skin coverage, Burton suggests applying a concealer dotted where needed or a foundation that will stay put. "I apply Glossier Stretch Foundation with a brush for a super sheer, long lasting layer, then spritz over with an SPF spray.” Or try a tinted moisturiser with SPF, such as Estee Lauder Double Wear Sheer Long-Wear Makeup SPF 20.
Burton's other summer beauty essentials? “A lash tint to avoid the risk of mascara run, an SPF balm to coat lips, such as Ultra Violette Sheen Screen SPF 50 Lip Balm £17, and Glossier’s Boy Brow, £20 in Clear to give brows some grit as you brush them up.”
Top up your glow on the go, try adding the hybrid Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Dew Balm Sunscreen SPF 30. And a word warning… “Steer clear of anything too heavy, too shimmery or high maintenance that may melt in the heat.”

Heading to a music festival ? Now's your chance to get creative and have fun with stick-on accessories. Think pearls, diamante or crystals. Burton used crystal droplets Dewdrop Embellishments, £4.55, Amazon. “I love applying them individually, rather than using a pre-made kit. It gives you full creative control and they look as if they are floating on the face for a magical feel, ” says Burton, who applied them with a damp cotton bud and eyelash glue.
On Vivi's skin, she created a soft peachy pink glaze by washing Glossier Cloud Paint Blush in Puff across her cheeks and lips with a brush. She traced the lip outline with a nude pencil and glazed over with a balm gloss - try Rhode Lip Tint in Ribbon, £16.
Call it latte-inspired or bronzed goddess, either way it's all about layering tonal shades of glossy or shimmering brown. “Keep it to one colour tone on eyes, lips and across skin for a modern take on the trend,” says Burton, who was inspired by the 90s tonal looks made famous by the original supers.
“I contoured the face with Glossier Cloud Paint in Coast, then worked it around the eye to give definition to the lash line and over the lids. I also used it as a bronzer for the final touch,” she says.
On lips, she applied two of Glossier’s new lip liners. “I used the shade Bare to line the lips and Buff to fill them in, blending together and adding a lip gloss to finish.”
