Loafers are the perfect trans-seasonal shoe, and every spring and autumn, a breakout style takes over the fashion scene. A few months ago, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner proclaimed the rise of the thin-soled loafer, wearing the same pair out within the week and sending everyone scrambling to shop similar razor-thin versions from Reformation and Tory Burch.
In 2025, the flat shoe reigns.
As the buds are beginning to dot the trees again, and we're slowly (I said slowly!) putting away our fleece-lined boots, we're all on the hunt for the perfect spring shoe that will walk us through these awkward months. Thankfully, as demonstrated by Jennifer Lawrence and, once again, our girl Kendall Jenner, there's a new loafer in town.
After the chunky loafer trend of 2023 and then the aforementioned thin-soled shoe, spring 2025 is all about the dad loafer, a scrunchy, masculine shape historically worn by men but looks oh-so-cool on women. Kendall Jenner recently styled hers with ankle socks, leaning into the preppy aesthetic, while J.Law styled hers with a light peacoat and jeans.

Their appeal lies in their ability to make any casual outfit feel effortlessly stylish, helping even a simple jeans-and-tee look feel more dressed up than if the outfit were paired with trainers.
And the good news is, they keep your toes toasty (and as Kendall demonstrated, can easily be worn with socks) but as the mercury rises, they can be worn alone with shorts through the summer.
All throughout fashion month, street style stars have provided plenty of fitspo on how to style the staple shoe, from pairing them with dresses to long socks and printed skirts.
