Bridgerton is back, baby! Season four (part one) of the beloved period drama dropped on Netflix on 29 January, and this time we're following the love story of Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek – bringing with it a whole new family to get to know.
As ever, the show is packed with string quartet song covers, pastel gowns and sexy scenes. And fan-favourite Benedict, who has never been one to settle down, is in for the Cinderella treatment with Sophie – who he meets after she sneaks into a masquerade ball. How very fairytale-coded.
It's sweet, it's steamy, it's… bonkers, at times – but once again, Bridgerton has us officially gripped. But like any binge watcher, you're probably wondering who the newest members of the Ton are – including who plays Sophie, Benedict's brave and bold love interest.
Here's all the cast and characters of Bridgerton season four, both new and returning.
Who plays Sophie in Bridgerton season 4?
Sophie is the lead character for season 4 of Bridgerton, played by Australian actor Yerin Ha. A hard-working maid and illegitimate daughter to Richard Gunningworth, Earl of Penwood, she meets Benedict as the ‘lady in silver’ at Violet Bridgerton's masquerade ball in episode one – where she immediately catches his attention. Yerin's casting, alongside Katie Leung, Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei, sees an all-Asian family join the show.
Speaking to Glamour about her casting in 2025, Yerin said: “What I love about Bridgerton is that it shows representation in a way that doesn't require over-explaining, like this doesn’t have to be a ‘Korean’ story. I love that it shows we can all coexist in this space and not have it be a big thing. Also, Benedict falls in love with Sophie as a person, and it’s about fighting for the person on the inside.”
Who else is in the Netflix cast?
Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
Returning as second Bridgerton brother Benedict is Luke Thompson, who up until now has been known as the free, artistic brother (reflected in his pansexual storylines in previous series). At the beginning of episode one, he refuses to marry, stating he is “charting a more venturesome course outside good society” – but his ways seem to change when he meets Sophie, however.
Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gun
Another new face to Bridgerton series four is Lady Araminta Gun, Sophie's stepmother – who is far from supportive of her ‘ward’ extra daughter. Firmly sticking with the ‘evil stepmother’ trope, Lady Gun has two daughters, Rosamund and Posy, who get her all her attention. You might recognise Katie Leung from the Harry Potter films, in which she played Cho Chang.
Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li
Rosamund is Lady Araminta's eldest daughter, determined to find a husband on the marriage mart – in fact, she sets her sights on Benedict, too. Actor Michelle Mao previously appeared in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey alongside Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.
Isabella Wei as Posy Li
Posy Li is Sophie Baek's younger stepsister and youngest daughter of Lady Araminta Gun. Rosamund and Posy's father was a Mr Li, who passed away before their mother than married Richard Gunningworth, Earl of Penwood (who also passed away) – father of Sophie through an ‘illegitimate’ relationship.
Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury
She's back! The inimitable Lady Danbury is played by Adjoa Andoh, also known for her theatre roles as well as Doctor Who and Casualty.
The best part of the actor's Bridgerton experience? Seeing Black and brown children dressing up as Lady Danbury.

Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton
Ruth Gemmell is widowed Bridgerton matriarch Lady Violet Bridgerton, tasked with keeping her eight children well-married and in check – though in recent seasons, she's found a love interest in Lord Marcus Anderson.
Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Bridgerton
Fans are thrilled that Penelope and Colin (or Polin, if you will) have made a return to Bridgerton season 4, especially following the absence of Anthony and Kate (Jonathon Bailey and Simone Ashley). The brilliant Nicola Coughlan, also known for her roles in Derry Girls, Barbie and Big Mood, plays Lady Whistledown herself, Penelope Bridgerton (formerly Featherington).
Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton
Also returning as Colin Bridgerton is Luke Newton, now a new dad to he and Penelope's baby son. Luke has appeared in a number of musical theatre productions, as well as The Cut and The Lodge.
Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
The fiercely-independent Eloise Bridgerton is played by Claudia Jessie, who also starred in Netflix's Toxic Town alongside Aimee Lou Wood and Jodie Whittaker in 2025.
Hannah Dodd as Francesca Stirling
Francesca Bridgerton is now Francesca Stirling, following her marriage to the very kind – but perhaps not her true romantic match – John Stirling. In series 4, we saw more of their relationship, as Francesca grapples with their intimacy issues. Hannah Dodd has previously starred in Enola Holmes 2 and Find Me In Paris.
Victor Alli as John Stirling
Victor Alli plays Francesca's husband John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin. You may have seen Victor in other projects such as Gangs of London and Death on the Nile.
Masali Baduza as Michaela Stirling
An intriguing character we were introduced to at the end of season three, Michaela Stirling is John Stirling's mysterious cousin (in the books, this character was a man – Michael Stirling), who appears to have a strong connection with Francesca. You may remember South African actor Masali Baduza played Sephy in the BBC drama Noughts + Crosses.
Daniel Francis as Marcus Anderson
The handsome Lord Marcus Anderson is Lady Danbury's brother, who has caught the eye of the widowed Lady Bridgerton. British actor Daniel began his career in theatre but has also appeared in Stay Close and Small Axe: Education.
Florence Hunt as Hyacinth Bridgerton
Practically growing up on the show, Florence Hunt plays Hyacinth Bridgerton, Lady Bridgerton's youngest child.
Will Tilston as Gregory Bridgerton
Will Tilston plays youngest Bridgerton brother Gregory. He also appeared in Goodbye Christopher Robin.
Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte
Golda Rosheuvel is the regal and zany Queen Charlotte, back to cause more mischief in season four. She is known for her theatre roles including Othello – and has also appeared in Dune, Luther, Silent Witness and Death in Paradise.
Polly Walker as Lady Portia Featherington
Our final matriarch of Bridgerton season four is Lady Portia Featherington, mother to Penelope and her sisters Prudence and Philippa. Played by Polly Walker, who has also starred in Line of Duty and HBO's Rome.
We're feeling horny in our petticoats.

Martins Imhangbe as Will Mondrich
Everyone's rooting for the Mondriachs! Former working class boxer Will Mondriach and wife Alice Mondriach recently inherited a grand estate and a place in high society. British-Nigerian actor Martins Imhangbe plays Will – he's also appeared in a number of theatre productions including Death of a Salesman, Othello, and Richard II.
Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich
Emma Naomi plays Will's steadfast and protective wife, Alice. She has also appeared in Professor T and Surprised by Oxford.
Lorraine Ashbourne as Mrs Varley
Head of staff at Featherington House, Mrs Varley is played by English actor Lorraine Ashbourne – also known for her roles in Riot Women and Sherwood.
Hugh Sachs as Brimsley
Brimsley is Queen Charlotte's right hand man, who we learn to love in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. He is played by Hugh Sachs, who also appeared in Benidorm and The Libertine.
Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown
We can't forget Queen Julie, the voice to Penelope's Lady Whistledown and narrator of the show. She needs no introduction, but of course you'll know her from The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and The Princess Diaries amongst so many others.
