Extraaaaaaaaaaa long Sleeping Beauty hair was a major theme at the 2024 Met Gala. We saw it appear countless times across the red carpet – which on this occasion was green and white and flanked with foliage and white roses.
It makes sense. The theme of the evening was “The Garden of Time” so romantic fairybook florals were already a key reference. We saw trailing vines snake around gowns and through hair, but we also saw trailing princess hair and ponytails finish off the looks.
But more specifically, the evening kicked off this year's fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of the Arts which will open to the public from 10th May. It's title? Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. It's not a reference to Disney. Instead, it celebrates 250 historic garments that normally lay “sleeping” in the archives that are set to be showcased lying down (on account of their fragility) in glass cases. But that didn't stop Aurora hair dominating the evening.
We saw it on the likes of Kendall Jenner, Ariana Grande, Keke Palmer, Elizabeth Debicki and more.
