Netflix's Seven Dials has landed. An adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1929 novel of the same name, it's a classic whodunnit, complete with spunky amateur sleuth, a cloaked secret society (yes, that's right, Traitors fans), a train chase scene, a grumpy old detective, and, of course, a few charming, crumbling English country manor houses filled absolutely bursting with secrets.
As you binge your way through the show, the first question on your mind will likely be: What are the Seven Dials filming locations? As Dee Gregson, the show's location manager, tells Glamour, the production was filmed in a number of rambling old country homes, while Bath and Bristol stood in for 1920s London and southern England. They also made a quick trip to Spain.
The Seven Dials mystery
Before we get into where the show was filmed, first, a little recap of the show (spoilers ahead!). It all begins at Chimney's, the country pile where Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce) lives with her mother, the eccentric Lady Caterham (Helena Bonham-Carter). After a house party, one of their guests, Gerry Wade (Corey Mylchreest), is found dead in his bed, a bottle of sleeping pills nearby. The night before, a group of his friends played a prank on him, hiding eight alarm clocks set at various times around the room. In the morning, only seven clocks remained. And they're ominously lined up on his mantlepiece. When she learns that Gerry was involved in mysterious government work involving something called “seven dials," her interest is piqued.
Although the police seem ready enough to write it off as a suicide, Bundle is convinced Gerry was killed – and she is on the case. She soon enlists the help of Gerry's friend Jimmy Thesiger (Edward Bluemel) and finds herself working alongside (actual professional) detective Superintendent Battle (Martin Freeman). Her investigations take her on a journey through seedy nightclubs, country estates and government meetings. And, yes, she eventually catches the unlikely killer.

All of the Seven Dials filming locations
The show opens in Spain, where we see Iain Glen (who, it turns out, is Bundle's father) in a bullring, where he is killed. Later in the show, we return to Spain to discover that Dr. Cyril Matip (Nyasha Hatendi) was, apparently, working with Bundle's dad. These sunny scenes were shot in Ronda.
One of the biggest set pieces is Chimneys, Bundle's country home, which was filmed at Gloucestershire's Badminton House.
“We wanted romance for Chimneys, and for it to be crumbling but beautiful,” director Chris Sweeney said. “And I based a lot of stuff on things like Cecil Beaton’s house, Reddish House, which were crumbling, and had pelargoniums everywhere. We sort of combined Cecil Beaton and Vita Sackville-West for Lady Caterham. Badminton House delivered on that, because it’s a private home, it’s sort of romantically crumbly, but also completely lavish and beautiful. And the people who live there are charming and lovely, and I think that comes across in the home, and that was a real find, because ultimately, most of these incredible houses are not private and available to rent.”
As Gregson explains, “Badminton House was a very early choice, it’s a beautiful house but not over modernised so worked well for our 1920’s setting. The ballroom and hallway were the perfect choice for the big party scene which kicks off Episode One. The Duke and Duchess were very accommodating with some of the changes we made to dress and light and black out their home.”
The estate, which, incidentally, is the birthplace of badminton the sport, has previously welcomed other productions, including Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte and The Gentlemen.
As the mystery unravels, Bundle finds herself part of a group enjoying a weekend away at Wyvern Abbey. Of course, she is really there to track down her killer.
“Wyvern Abbey was more of a hunt – our producer Jo Crow was keen on Westonbirt School, which is a stunning building, but although we were filming in the summer holidays so the regular school children were not on site, there is a very busy summer school which takes over in the holidays so we had to make careful arrangements to work around them," explains Gregson. "The school were very keen for the filming to happen, and I know they are really happy with how it looks on screen!”

Bundle eventually discovers that Seven Dials is, in fact, a nightclub often frequented by government officials. She heads there to check it out, only to discover it is also the secret meeting place of a mysterious group of cloaked schemers.
Interiors of the club were shot at Barrel House, a club in Bristol.
Meanwhile, the entrance to Seven Dials Club was shot on All Saints Street and Clare Street in Bristol.
When Bundle finds the Seven Dials Society and hides in a closet to overhear their meeting, scenes were shot at Bottleyard Studios in Bristol.
A number of scenes were shot in the historic Queens Square in Bristol, including Jimmy's rooms, the Seven Dials stairways and various London scenes.
Bundle meets up with an old friend to find out more at Bon Temps Restaurant, which was shot at The Ox, a funky cocktail and dinner basement bar in Bristol.
The historic Corn Market served as the Met Police and Battle's office.
Some scenes were also shot at Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol.
Little King St. in Bristol served as the East End.
The exterior of Scotland Yard, where Bundle finally meets Battle, was shot on Bridewell Street in Bristol.
Bundle finds herself in the fictional town of Market Basing. Production used Abbey Green in the city centre of Bath.
“Bath was tough work – obviously we were filming on quite busy parts of the city centre, Abbey Green," says Gregson. “We filmed in the summer so the city was busy with tourists. Kay Wilson our brilliant Bath Location Manager is known to everyone in the city now, she worked miracles liaising with the businesses and residents in order to facilitate the control and clearances we needed.”
Glamour gives a verdict on the best telly coming in 2026.

Bundle chases Battle down the street in a car, which was shot on Great Pulteney St. in Bath. This meant clearing the street. “[We] had to clear all the cars from Great Pulteney street for our 1940’s car chase with Bundle and Battle bombing up and down,” says Gregson. "We had location Marshals dressed in period costume (with thanks to the costume and makeup department) hiding radios behind their backs, so that they could speak with residents and ask them to hide round corners or retreat into doorways when the camera was on the move following the action cars!”
The Market Basing train station scene was shot at the Crown Court in Cardiff.
Meanwhile, the Science Library in Cardiff stood in for the Foreign/India office.
The final sequence of the series sees Bundle chasing down the killers on a moving train. It proved to be one of the most challenging moments to bring to life.
“The railway involved a lot of research all around the country," Gregson says. "We ended up settling on West Somerset Railway because it was decided that the train should stop alongside the sea, and Blue Anchor Bay offered the perfect place, unspoiled and beautiful. Also, it was in our region, so not too many overnights were involved. The biggest challenge filming on the railway was the heat – with many cast and supporting artists all in period costume sitting on a non-moving train in the heat, we ended up bringing in battery-powered air conditioners and stringing them along the train.”
