The tennis world was plagued with drama this week, when Serena Williams claimed that the fine she was given during the final of the US Open was unfair - and sexist.

She received one code violation for receiving coaching instructions from her coach in the crowd, although she insisted she was unaware of this and would "rather lose" than cheat. During the post-match press conference, she said:

“I’ve seen other men call other umpires several things...I’m here fighting for women’s rights and for women’s equality and for all kinds of stuff. For me to say ‘thief,’ and for him to take a game, it made me feel like it was a sexist remark. He’s never taken a game from a man because they said ‘thief’."

Off the back of her comments, artist Mark Knight created a cartoon illustrating the event, which was published in the Australian newspaper, the Herald Sun. It depicted an angry Serena jumping up and down, with Osaka in the background with the umpire asking, "Can't you just let her win?".

As soon as the cartoon hit the web, criticism started, with many people dubbing it racist.
