We can relate.

Low maintenance beauty sings a particular siren song at this time of year. But Selena Gomez just delivered a masterclass in exactly how to navigate ‘humidity hair’ without looking red-faced and flustered.

Summer comes with its own complex set of hair issues. With more moisture in the air, strands can puff up like cotton candy while sweat kills off any volume at the roots. Rather than fight the inevitable, several celebrities took to Instagram on 29 July to reveal how they're embracing the high temperatures, without furiously smoothing any flyaways into submission.

Selena Gomez is leading the charge with a makeup-free selfie she uploaded to her Stories. In it, her face is freshly-cleansed, allowing her freckles to have their day. Even a tiny pimple has been left concealer free, while her brushed-up brows are the only obvious sign of any pre-pic grooming. Her hair is tousled and tumbles in a perfectly imperfect, undone fashion over her shoulders. She looks breathtaking.

Even Jennifer Lopez, the high-priestess of big blow-dries and super sleek mid-lengths has let her hair down (literally). In a picture posted to Instagram on the same day, she can be seen wearing a sweatshirt and lying back in an armchair. Her makeup is minimal, but perhaps most astonishing is her uncharacteristically mussed-up hair.

The smile says it all and we can't help but admit that we love this more candid vibe from J.Lo. It's like she's gone from unattainable goddess to the cool girl next door who wants to try the same spin class as you.

And brace yourself for Julia Fox as you've never seen her before: bare-faced, her hair in natural waves pinned away from her face.

While on a recent holiday, Swedish It-girl and influencer, Matilda Djerf uploaded a carousel of hot-weather hair looks. In one, she swaps her perfectly coiffed ‘70s layers for a messy bun that has been effortlessly thrown up to reveal the nape of her neck, in another she can be cycling with her honey blonde hair au naturel.

Suddenly, we don't just feel like embracing ‘humidity hair’, we're ready to seriously werk it.
