Few shows in the last year were quite so instantly iconic as Rivals. The hit show based on Jilly Cooper's famous novel was addictive, giddy fun from start to finish.
It's hardly a great surprise that the show racked up three TV BAFTA nominations, currently taking place in London. David Tennant is nominated for his role as Tony Baddingham, Katherine Parkinson received a nod for playing Lizzie Vereker and Alex Hassal and Emily Atack are nominated for “Memorable Moment” for Rupert Campbell-Black and Sarah Stratton's infamous naked game of tennis.
If you have somehow not seen Rivals yet, now is the perfect time catch up on last year's whackiest, wildest romp.
First, a little teaser — in case “naked tennis” hasn't already sold you! Rivals sets the scene in 1980s rural England where a deep-seated rivalry is ramping up: Olympian-turned-Tory MP Rupert Campbell-Black vs Lord Tony Baddingham, head of Corinium TV station. When Tony brings a new American producer and an Irish newsman, Declan O'Hara, on board, things get more tense than ever.
Oh yeah, and there is a whole of romance in the air. Affairs abound! Flirtations thrive! And, need we say it again, there's naked tennis!
Think big 1980s hair, big 1980s puffed sleeves, big 1980s ambitions and big 1980s sexual tension.

Yes, season 2 of Rivals was confirmed last December. It entered pre-production in February and, great news, it's set to start filming on May 12. So, hopefully, it won't be a long wait now!
