RIHANNA SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW ALERT!

Not long after reports surfaced that Rihanna was in talks with the NFL and Roc Nation to headline the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, the singer seemed to confirm the news on Instagram. On September 25, Rihanna shared a photo of her tattooed arm reaching up to grab an official NFL football.

Rihanna captioned her post with a simple period, and her fans immediately began to celebrate in the comments. “SUPERBOWL HALFTIME SHOW QUEEN 🥹,” one fan replied to the post, while another wrote, “Guess I’m going to the Super Bowl 😮😍🙌❤️.” Lizzo herself replied, “Screaming.”

The NFL later tweeted the same image, writing, “Let's GO.” They also changed their Twitter bio to “national fenty league.”

"Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment," Jay-Z, founder of Roc Nation, said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter.

"We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage," NFL Head of Music Seth Dudowsky added in a separate statement. "Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance."

TMZ also reported that a second artist was also being discussed, but “it's not either/or”, and there may be two performers booked for the big event. Last year, the halftime show featured an entire lineup of artists, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.

The Super Bowl will take place on February 12, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona. This will be the first year that the NFL is partnering with Apple Music to produce the halftime show, which has been sponsored by Pepsi for the past ten years. "We are proud to welcome Apple Music to the NFL family as our new partner for the iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show," Nana-Yaw Asamoah, SVP of Partner Strategy for the NFL, said in a statement on September 23. "We couldn't think of a more appropriate partner for the world's most-watched musical performance than Apple Music, a service that entertains, inspires, and motivates millions of people around the world through the intersection of music and technology."

"Music and sports hold a special place in our hearts, so we're very excited Apple Music will be part of music and football's biggest stage," said Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Apple Music and Beats. "We're looking forward to even more epic performances next year and beyond with the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show." You don't get much more epic than Rihanna!
