Any time Rihanna steps out, we know she’s going to deliver a memorable look — whether it’s her streetwear style or creative beauty takes. She’s back at it once again, this time with a surprisingly simple trending summer manicure we can’t wait to copy.
The Fenty Beauty founder and her partner, A$AP Rocky, arrived in Brussels on Saturday, June 28, for the world premiere of the movie Smurfs (which she produced, and for which she voiced the character of Smurfette). The pair walked the red — ahem — blue carpet together, with Rihanna in a baby blue ensemble on theme with the event. The sheer top showed off her growing baby bump, as she’s currently pregnant with baby number three.
As dutiful beauty editors, our eyes couldn’t help but instantly wander to her manicure, a lilac-milk look created by celebrity nail artist Jenny Longworth, who, aside from working with Rihanna, is also responsible for some of Harry Styles’s nail looks.
It’s sunny yet simple – and it’s exactly what I want to wear all summer.

Rihanna’s lilac mani couldn’t be simpler, and that’s the beauty of it. It’s a superlight purple that almost comes across as white with a shiny, milky finish. It’s a summer mani that’ll match with anything and grow out nicely. The slightly translucent (like her soft pastel babydoll top) milk-bath finish is light, fresh, and breezy — just what we need on these scorching hot days.

Plus, a lilac-milk manicure is right on theme for the summer. With minimalist manis on the rise, from Selena Gomez’s glass nails to Heidi Klum’s coconut-milk nails, getting a simple single shade is what’s hot right now. Gomez has also worn similar polishes to Rihanna’s, including a popular spring lavender-milk manicure and a summery lilac one.
Longworth didn’t gatekeep: She shared exactly how to get Rihanna’s look: First up, she applied clear BIAB (builder in a bottle) gel to her nails. Then, she followed up with a sheer lilac shade called Diana from The Gel Bottle Inc. And to finish off, she swiped on the brand’s Extreme Shine Topcoat for a super-shiny finish and Cuticle Essence to keep the cuticles healthy and moisturised.
Rihanna’s milky manicure wasn’t the only beauty star of the red carpet that night. Her high-shine lips were equally mesmerising thanks to her own Fenty Beauty products. And as if copying Rihanna’s nail look wasn’t enough, we’re also taking serious lipstick inspo from her for a 1950s-inspired pout. Celebrity makeup artist Hector Espinal used Fenty Beauty Trace’d Out Longwear Waterproof Pencil Lip Liner in shade I Woodn’t (a neutral brown) to line her lips, and to get that glass-like shiny finish, he topped it with Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fu$$y (a shimmery pink). Sorry Rihanna, we’re taking all the inspo from you for our summer makeup looks.
