I interviewed Rebel Wilson recently, and you know what struck me about her in real life? That she's really really nice, and she's extremely funny. During our brief chat I didn't feel the need to ask her age, because we were there to talk about more important things like her incredible movie career, her co-workers, and life as a comedy actress.
But maybe I should have asked, 'Hi Rebel, forget Pitch Perfect 2, how old are you REALLY?'
The Australian actress - who, let's face it, has owned Hollywood comedy in recent years - has been the talk of the internet the past 24 hours. Why? Because she has - according to Women's Day - lied about her age, and her name.
A number of Australian media organisations seem determined to 'out' Wilson for her real age - they've even interviewed Rebel's old school friends and published retro yearbook photos. Nice, guys. Real nice.

The actress herself tweeted out about the story yesterday, and accused the Australian media of "tall poppy syndrome", which if you're not aware, means: a perceived tendency to discredit or disparage those who have achieved notable wealth or prominence in public life.

As you can see, Rebel Wilson NAILED her response, but why is it - with celebrities especially - that we have to 'knock them down a peg or two'? It happened to Zoella during the ghost writer book-gate drama-rama, and we've seen it with Britney and, well, everyone. Can't we just let successful women (and men) enjoy their success? And celebrate their success with them?
I think we should just let Rebel do what she does best? Be her funny, warm, lovely self. Twitter agrees with me, too.
