It's a tough time to be alive right now isn't it? There's post-Brexit political turmoil, the pound is as worth as much as Monopoly money, our favourite celebrities keep dying, the refugee crisis is raging on and no one seems to care and Isis continue to threaten and harm innocent people; all in all, the world feels pretty dark at the moment.
But, there are still good things happening. We don't want to be all Pollyanna about it and we're not saying you should bury your head in the sand, but here's to celebrating the positive stuff happening in the world.
The Pontiff said sorry on behalf of the Church for discriminating against the gay community, women, exploited children and the poor. Yes, all this should be a given, but it's still a massive step in the right direction. "[Gay people] should not be discriminated against," he said on Sunday. "They should be respected, accompanied pastorally. I think that the Church not only should apologise… to a gay person whom it offended but it must also apologise to the poor as well, to the women who have been exploited, to children who have been exploited by (being forced to) work. It must apologise for having blessed so many weapons."
