David Beckham revealed at the BAFTAs last night that Paddington had been a favourite in his household last year, so Brooklyn et al will be pleased to hear that the Peruvian wanderer may well be making a return to the silver screen.
The flick made $200m-plus and Studiocanal is apparently in talks with producer David Heyman about a sequel.
Studiocanal president Olivier Courson said that the film is expected to gross $250m by the end of the year:
"We have to be selective, work with strong brands, top talent, take the time we need," Courson told Variety. "[But] obviously, the result on Paddington is a strong incentive to us and the partners on the movie to work on a sequel, and a strong incentive for Studiocanal to continue in this area."
Whether the likes of Hugh Bonneville, Nicole Kidman and Ben Whishaw, who voices the bear, will return for a second showing is still unconfirmed.
