Who - and what - we love this week (and what we definitely don't)
Heroes
Sia
The singer-songwriter won four ARIA awards (basically the Australian version of a Grammy) this week. Instead of lining up her trophies on the mantelpiece, she offered to send them to four of her Twitter followers - but only if they sent proof of a good deed. Cue an avalanche of random acts of kindness by her fans.
Annie Murphy
Annie - who is 101 - received a standing ovation this week after giving a speech about surviving hardship at an unemployment centre in Gateshead. Having lived through two World Wars and the Great Depression, her 90 minute speech described how she defied her alcoholic father to get an education, and her struggle to find work during one of the worst economic collapses in history. Annie was so inspirational, she has now been nominated for a local award.
The seven-year-old feminist
Tesco have removed a sexist sign advertising a superhero clock with the tag line "Fun gifts for boys" after a photo of seven-year-old Maggie Cole (looking suitably unimpressed) went viral. Her mother, Karen, described how her daughter pointed out the sign, saying "They're being stupid aren't they." Well called, Maggie!
Douchebags
Recep Tayyip Erdogan
The Turkish President announced this week that women are not equal to men as it "goes against the laws of nature." He was speaking at a summit on Women and Justice, of all places. You can imagine how well that went down.
David Mellor
The former Tory cabinet member was recorded launching into an expletive ridden rant at a London cabbie. After calling his driver a "stupid, sweaty little s***," Mellor went on to describe his 'superior' status: "You've been driving a cab for 10 years, I've been in the Cabinet, I'm an award-winning broadcaster, I'm a Queen's Counsel. You think that your experiences are anything compared to mine?" How charming.
